Flames Upon the Floating Loti

Welcome to the 4th Edition of the epic Role-Playing Game Legend of the Five Rings! Join us for the ultimate adventure of fantasy samurai, locked in perpetual battles of honor and glory within the bonds of the Code of Bushido.

The Emerald Empire of Rokugan demands much of its samurai: service to one’s lord, service to one’s Clan, and service to one’s Emperor. Bushido’s staunch and unyielding code of conduct binds samurai to duty, strengthening their character and defining their choices. While some samurai serve the greater good, others use the strictures of Bushido to manipulate the lower ranks and advance their own power. Will you follow honor or reject it? The choice is yours!

Eight Great Clans form the heart of Rokugan’s culture. Each is defined by its own principles, values, and agendas. Each sees the Code of Bushido in its own way. Each seeks to serve the Emperor with its own unique talents. Take up the soul of your ancestors — the samurai’s daisho — and fight for the glory and honor of your family and Clan. Now is the time for heroes, in a world where Honor is a force more powerful than Steel.

This campaign will explore the world of L5R and the character made by each player. You can expect an assortment of 'sessions' from combat to roleplaying (Intrigue, politics, action, romance, comedy, combat, etc.. Players should be able (or at least willing) to roleplay (act as) their characters in the setting of Rokugan. When 'in-character' players should act and speak as they imagine their character would. This is a game that will require players to read the corebook's Air, Earth, and Fire sections. Each player will have to create a fitting background for their characters. The character's Twenty Questions should help dictate the mechanical creation of their character. The more detailed their answers the better the GM will be able to incorporate personal subplots for each character.

Each character will begin the game not knowing of each other (unless the characters come form the same clan and the players both/all desire it). The characters should only describe non-physical descriptions of their character through roleplaying in-game.

The GM will cater the campaign to the characters created and their background as subplots. Other plots will be added to create an appropriate campaign for the players. The default game is to consider the players to be Emerald Magistrates who likely each come from different clans. If the players wish to play in such a campaign, their characters will begin in service to an Emerald Magistrate first. It will take time, actions, and roleplaying to advance from working for an Emerald Magistrate to becoming Emerald Magistrates on their own, or developing different jobs.

As an option: If players decided to all come from the same clan, they will start as Clan Magistrates.

Any Ronin characters will begin the game underneath the status of clan characters. Players of such character's should expect to be treated appropriately as Ronin are described to be treated within the setting. That means they will be treated as less than the clan samurai. Only time, action, and roleplay will change how an individual ronin is viewed/treated within the campaign.

This campaign covers adult themes and thus requires players to be 18 or older.

Only the Corebook can be used to create your characters (this is not optional). Other books will be added later down the road of the campaign, but to start they will not be used or allowed.

If you are interested in joining this campaign, follow the Application for Recruitment Thread.
