Adventures of Elwynn Forest is a classic fantasy adventure for D&D 5e and the opening entry in a series of adventures set in Azeroth, part of the Warcraft universe. Set in the heartland of Stormwind, the story begins as the heroes arrive in Goldshire, a quiet village surrounded by hidden dangers. As they explore the woods, mines, and rivers, they uncover kobold infestations, murloc raids, and the rising threat of the vicious Riverpaw gnolls. The campaign will start as a semi-sandbox, job-board-style adventure that gradually leads into a larger overarching plot.
This campaign is set in the World of Warcraft universe, specifically around the time of Vanilla/Classic WoW. Knowledge of the setting is not required—in fact, limited familiarity with Stormwind, Elwynn Forest, and their questlines is preferred, as I will be adapting and reworking storylines from the game. As written, I expect the campaign to run from levels 1–8, with ideas to continue beyond that.
Of the two major factions in Warcraft, we will be playing on the Alliance side. This means there will be race restrictions: Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes, Elves, Half-Elves, and Halflings. We can discuss more unique race options if you have a strong character concept.
I am looking to run 3–4 hour sessions every other week, with the possibility of occasional extra sessions when schedules allow. We will use Roll20 and D&D Beyond for VTT and character sheets, and Discord for voice/video. We will be using the D&D 5e (2014) ruleset. I expect the game to be 50/50 for RP/combat and the rating of this game to be PG-13 - R violence exists but i wont go into details and any adult scenes will fade to black.
I’m looking for interesting characters who bring potential plot hooks to the table—characters who want to adventure and are open to working as part of a group. No lone wolves, edgelords, or murder hobos. Optimized characters are fine, but I’m not looking for builds intentionally designed to break the game.
Since this is intended to be a long-term campaign, I will be selective with players. I’m looking for friendly, outgoing individuals who want to tell an epic story together and actively participate, rather than sit on the sidelines. New players are welcome. Warcraft knowledge is not required. I would also like to keep a balanced table in terms of gender. Any hate or harassment toward other players will not be tolerated. We will have a session 0 going over some ground rules and any sensitive topics
A little about me: I’m in my early 30s and have been playing D&D for around five years, with experience both as a player and a DM. I’d consider myself a novice DM with plenty of room to grow—so don’t expect Matt Mercer–level performances . For online games especially, I believe the most important thing is finding the right group of players who get along both in and out of the game.
For character creation:
-Point buy
-level 1 (will be level 2 after first sesh)
-2014 rules
-any official published material is fair game
-anything from UA ill have to look at before giving the green light
-no homebrew
-maybe a starting feat if the majority of players have some experience
