Utopia

The nation of Oriassa is happy, safe, and prosperous. Nobody here ever goes hungry, no bandits plague the roads between towns, and the ironclad one-party-rule of High Priest Imaxus prevents any of the silly political squabbling of the past from interfering in people’s lives. Everyone loves Imaxus, and Imaxus loves everyone. It was he, in his days as a daring adventurer without equal, who discovered the One True God Azerzi and instituted the monotheistic worship that has brought good harvests and kept people safe. Between Imaxus’ love and Azerzi’s benevolence all peoples are cared for and dissent is an alien concept. You live, in short, in a perfect utopia. When an unexpected opportunity arises to look behind the curtain of Oriassa's prosperity, will you take it? And once you've seen what lies beneath, what will you choose to do about it?

Hey, I’m Nik and I’m excited to be launching my new homebrew campaign Utopia. It's a free-flowing player-driven sandbox campaign with no set chain of quests or predetermined outcome and more of an emphasis on story/discovery/exploration/investigation than combat or mechanics on the whole. There will be some epic, glorious battles of course, but this ain’t no dungeon crawl hack n slash. In terms of tone it will be serious, weighty plot in a realistic world (with realistic consequences for your actions!) but with plenty of silly jokes, inverted tropes and daft humour in the details. Kind of like if Terry Pratchett and GRR Martin had a baby, and that baby was a TRPG campaign. The plot will evolve in response to the players, and is entirely open-ended. After all, if Harry Potter went to Mordor or Granny Weatherwax marched on King’s Landing you’d expect a completely different story, right? I feel it should be the same in DnD.

There will be a free session 0 to get a sense of myself and what the campaign will be like, and if you have any questions at all please do feel to ask. :)

Session 0 will be on 13/03/26 at 19:00 GMT and sessions will be every Friday at 19:00 thereafter.
