Goblin-napped! A One-shot Rescue Adventure - Thursday

A fast, punchy rescue adventure with a planar twist. You can save the captives. You can stop the ritual. Or you can get trapped between worlds when the demiplane snaps shut.

One-Shot

This is a one-session only rescue adventure for a party of 4 level 5 characters using the D&D 5e 2024 rules, not a full campaign. Six villagers have been dragged into the woods by a goblin crew with a strange new obsession: purple fire and Draconic runes. Somewhere beyond the trees, a half-finished ritual is tearing reality in two—creating a twilight mirror-world that’s collapsing by the minute. This One-Shot will last about 2-3 hours.

2024 Only

I've got the 2024 Rules in my Compendium, and will share them with all players. Please don't use any 2014 material while making your character. No homebrew, no houserules. If there's rule conflicts we'll figure it out on the spot and move on. I roll in the open and never fudge dice. If you die you die.

Close Allies

Your characters all know each other already, being old allies who've recently met back up. We'll figure out specifics in the first 5 minutes.Feel free to make up setting details for the broader world if you like, so long as they're not outrageous. We're generally sticking to Forgotten Realms but I haven't exactly memorised the wiki.

Tone & Expectations

Lotta combat. Some socialising with NPCs. Explore carefully, don't make too much noise or the goblins will ambush you! Be sneaky, be cheeky, genuinely use your head.

Safety

Classic stuff. Be kind to each other, be kind to me. Everyone's welcome. If the content triggers you please let me know ASAP in whatever way you feel most comfortable (DMing me an "X" will do the job) and we can pause and figure it out. Ideally, if there's any phobias etc I should know ahead of time (spiders?) please let me know at least 2 hours before the game starts too, so I can make adjustments.

Character Creation

As said, Level 5. Once you're invited to the game you'll have access to my whole Compendium and will be able to make a character using the Roll20 Character Creator. Please don't make a character in D&D Beyond and expect us to use that, I'd like everything in one place. I don't want a long written backstory, but have a think about who your character is beyond the big numbers on their sheet.

Next Steps

If you're keen, post in the discussion below with just some basic details about yourself, your character, and what sort of play you most enjoy. I'll pick the 4 I vibe with most and add them to the game, Discord server, etc.

Looking forward to playing with you!
