Purgatory of the Guilty (Thursday)

Purgatory of the Guilty

Two-Shot

This is a double-session adventure for a party of 5 level 7 characters using the D&D 5e 2024 rules. It’s designed to run in about 3-4 hours for each session, though that depends on the group and the choices made along the way.
After receiving a mysterious letter, Captain Garrick Crowe asks for your help locating a missing adventurer named Archibald Tootlebum. What begins as a simple rescue mission quickly turns into something far more disturbing.
Face the past, survive judgment, and uncover what waits at the center of it all… before the place decides you belong there too.

2024 Rules Only

I’m using the 2024 ruleset, which I’ll share with all players. Please don’t use 2014 material when creating your character.
No homebrew or house rules for character creation. If a rule question comes up during play, we’ll make a quick ruling and keep the game moving.
I roll dice in the open. No fudging. If your choices doom you… they doom you.

Familiar Faces, New Journey

This adventure takes place after The Debts of The Depths, it is heavily requested to have played it to understand most things that will happen here.
Your characters already know Captain Garrick Crowe and have previously traveled with him, though you can decide how close your relationship with him truly is.

Tone & Expectations

The story mixes exploration, combat, roleplay and psychological themes.
You’ll travel between the real world and places that should not exist, confront manifestations of guilt, and uncover truths long buried by time and regret.
Some encounters may not be solved by combat alone.
The deeper you go, the more personal things become.
And in the end, the question may not be whether you can escape… but whether you deserve to.

Safety

Classic stuff. Be respectful and kind to each other. Everyone is welcome.
If something in the game makes you uncomfortable, message me privately (even just sending an “X” works) and we’ll pause and adjust. [Possible risks: psychological themes, guilt, death, ghosts, infernal imagery and emotional distress]

Character Creation

Level 7 characters as specified above.
Once invited, you’ll have access to my Roll20 Compendium and can build your character using the Roll20 Character Creator.
Please keep characters within the system there so everything stays organized.
No need for a long backstory but have a think about who your character is beneath the surface and what they may regret, fear, or try to hide.

Next Steps

If you're interested, post below with a few basic details about yourself, your character and what you enjoy most in D&D.
I’ll choose the players I vibe with most and invite them to the game and Discord.

Hope to see you on the other side.
