Our Funeral (A Monster of the Week Mystery)

Your tranquil night gets interrupted by knocking at the door.
A sealed letter slips underneath, but when you look outside, there is no sign of anyone there.
Inside the envelope, you find an invitation to the funeral of Sam Winston.
You assume they have the wrong person, but there is something else in the envelope.
A photograph of you.
So they do know you? But when was this taken?
You have no memory of it.
Perhaps it is morbid curiosity that makes you choose to do as it says.
You do not expect to recognize any faces at the event.
But you do.
One.
Over and over again.
But only one.
More than half of the attendees look eerily similar to you.
Perhaps a different haircut, a different size, a different way in which they look back at you.
Yet to you, they are all carnival mirrors.
When they present the picture of the dead, a shiver rolls down your spine.
It is the same photo from the letter.
Amidst the horror and confusion in the crowd, many leave.
But in the weeks that follow, you continue to see it on the news and social media.
Murder after murder after murder of your doppelgängers.
How long until you are next?
Your tranquil night gets interrupted by knocking at the door.
You would like a word with yourself.
We need to discuss.
Our funeral.

What is MotW you may ask?
Monster of the Week is a narrative focused PbtA system inspired by shows such as Buffy, X-Files and Supernatural where the protagonists of the story investigate and hunt down supernatural threats.

This is a single mystery that should take up 3 sessions to be completed.
