Dungeon's & Rogues : Roguelite D&D

Welcome to Roguelite D&D!!!

Have you ever wanted to play an endless Dungeon Crawl? Do you want to test your character-building? Do you just want to slaughter endless numbers of enemies in (seemingly) endless combinations of encounters and bosses pulled straight from the Monster Manual?

Maybe you're a wandering forever-DM who just wants to sit behind a character sheet for once? Don't worry, I know the feeling.

This is Roguelite D&D, a play-test for a module that I - LostOblivion64 - am in the process of creating here on Roll20. Free games for a module that will eventually become pay-to-play. I have spent hours balancing and testing by myself, but I need real feedback for both the quality of the module.

How does it work?

To put it simply, you and a group of 2-5 other players will be pressing through hours of combat, broken up by the occasional encounter with a travelling merchant to sell you magic items and services to aid you in your push to the end of the questing day. Spell slots will be run dry. Health potions will be as vital as the very air your characters breathe.

If you want to understand more, here is a link to the Roguelite D&D Player's Handbook: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vfH7e_6QPtoqgSyr_DYoCaqoA3Z50_BS3y0pOLfFar0/edit?tab=t.0

What kind of game can I expect?

You can expect a game absolutely zero maintenance in terms of character-building or role-play. That's not to say you can't write backstories or role-play with others - in fact that's perfectly okay! Think of this as "What if D&D was a video game?". To many that will defeat the point of a role-playing game and that's to be expected. i'm not doing this because I think it's some secret, untapped genre of D&D that everyone can enjoy. This is a passion project of mine more than anything, that caters to maybe 10% of those reading this listing.

In terms of commitment to the game, this can be a committed relationship or a one-night stand if you wish. You can show up for as many or as few sessions as possible before leaving or just signing off for a while and coming back when you're ready. As long as I have enough players, there's no pressure, but the more the merrier! If you do show up for a session, then please plan to stay for the whole duration. Depending on the party size, it could be anywhere between 2-4 hours, so plan accordingly.

Be as serious or as silly as you want. We're all here for a good time! I love a good joke, but please do not interrupt the flow of the game, and try your hardest to perform your best in combat. In the end, we're all here to have fun!

Games are held on a Discord server (which I am going to create once I have completed this listing). This server will be a place for you to meet your fellow players, leave questions about the game, and leave reviews or feedback.

About the DM

My name is Oblivion, I am 18 and I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons for about 5 years by now. I have played with a variety of groups from the most committed role-players to the most diabolical jokers in this realm. Whoever you are, you have a place at my table (so to speak). I am LGBTQ+ myself and I will not tolerate any sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, or any other hate speech whatsoever. One warning, then a ban.

As much as I am experienced, I am inexperienced. I know that I don't know everything, but will always work to improve where possible. No feedback is bad feedback!

More Information & Play-tester benefits

If it gains traction and promise as a game, I might run it as a pay-to-play module, BUT don't expect a penny to be flying out of your pockets by signing up to this game! When that happens, I will create a new listing entirely with no expectations for the play-testers to join (but you will gain priority over new players if you take part in play-testing and possibly a discount). I want to create only an experience that is worth paying for and I will keep it as cheap as possible. I will never host something like this with a double-digit price tag.

For now, sessions are free - you will never be expected to pay me a thing by applying to this game.
