Palladium Rifts NGR Colorless Campaign
PC Starting Level/Experience: 1/0.
Players who come into the campaign after the campaign has begun will also start at 1/0. PCs who die a heroic death in-game may create a new PC with half the experience (rounded down) of the PC that died.
Party Size (min/max): 4/12 (will occasionally split into teams of 8+ players)
Player Alignment Allowed: Scrupulous (Good), Unprincipled (Selfish), Anarchist (Selfish), or Aberrant (Evil).
Note: It is very important to choose an alignment for your character that you can roleplay, as it may affect experience points earned.
Campaign Start Date: Fall 2389 A.D.
Starting Location: The party will begin within the “Monster Zone” if they have any D-Bees in their party. If not, the party may begin in the city of Munich.
This campaign is set in fall, October 103 PA. The NGR’s fight for survival against the creatures from other dimensions, like the numerous gargoyles, remains a struggle for the military. Concerns of the numerous rumors and reports of D-Bees joining forces with their monstrous allies are discussed every day.
On the flip side of things, many D-Bees suffer at both the hands of the New German Republic and the Gargoyle Empire. Some do join forces with supernatural creatures, some just struggle trying to eke out an existence on a strange world where they discover they are unwanted and suspected of being the reason the rifts came in the first place.
Our players enter the story with a purpose which may be heroic, dastardly, or selfish (out for a purpose that benefits themselves more than helps/hinders society). Depending on circumstances, they may be allies of the NGR, neutral towards the NGR, or outright enemies of the NGR. The actions of the player character in-game may result in the relation with the NGR appropriately changing.
When I run the games, I often take into consideration each player character’s alignments. In this campaign, players roleplaying consistently with their alignment will be rewarded. Being consistent means that the GM and other players should be able to figure out a character’s 'general' personality/alignment (good, selfish, or possibly evil, if it is roleplayed consistently). Consistently, but not exacting, as people deviate from time to time, based on their emotions and circumstances. Exception, evil alignment characters may consistently act falsely around certain people (including most/all other party members) as hiding their alignment is often wise. Yet, behind closed doors or amongst their trusted friends, evil characters should act/speak in a manner that is consistent with their alignment.
The main focus of the adventuring party may center around being adventurers of some sort. This could be the sole reason why your characters have joined the player characters’ “party.” Other options include all soldiers in the NGR, an NGR-approved mercenary group, or whatever else the party mutually decides.
The players are free to collectively come up with the reasons behind joining the group. They should know each other a minimum of a month’s time, to at most a year. This includes knowing general backstories of each other.
As the gamemaster, I will take all the characters’ backstories, classes, and alignments in mind when developing the campaign and its adventures. My goal is to always keep the players equally involved in the campaign. This will include considering bringing in subplots that are based on the characters’ backstories (if possible).
Players interested in playing in this campaign should read the character classes allowed thread, as well as the rest of the threads within the campaign. A failure to read the threads may result in frustration on acceptable characters.
