No logout button, a level-10 grind, guild politics, nonstop streaming and bugs so broken they've unionized. Welcome to the worst patch notes ever.
Life sucks. That's pretty much a given these days. You would be hard pressed to find anybody that doesn't turn to escapism every now and then. Your chosen brand of escapism is gaming. So, when a new game was announced, you were one of the first to hop on board.
'Daggerheart Online', supposedly the most immersive MMO-RPG ever created. With a complex in-game economy, in-depth relationship mechanics, and the most comprehensive character creation on the market, this game took the world by storm.
Then the patch dropped. No-one thought much of it at first, until they tried to leave the game. The 'logout' button wasn't just unavailable, it had disappeared like it was never there in the first place. That was bad enough. But when people started to die, and then didn't respawn? That's when everything went to shit.
Eventually you managed to piece together what happened; the AI running the game had gone rogue, taking the players' lives into their own hands and treating them like just another means to generate content. But this isn't just a game. If you die in the game, you die in real life.
The only way out? Make it all the way to the 10th level in one piece (somehow) - surviving the machinations of angry gods, hostile NPCs, and other players alike - and then... you don't know. Nobody actually knows how you get out, but whatever it is is on that level, you're sure. It has to be. Right?
Welcome to Daggerheart Online. We hope you enjoy your stay :)
