Thespians (players) will be rewarded for excellent role playing and game will have limited focus on combat, (please no power gamers). (we will be playing through the original Dragonlance modules and follow the chronicles trilogy updated to 5e)
Players, will choose to play one of the eight original iconic (pre generated) heroes. The heroes of the lance include:
Tanis Half-elven: (Thanthanlanas) Tanis is plagued by the inner conflict of his elven and human heritage that is manifested by his love for two very dissimilar women; Laurana the childlike and innocent elf maiden and Kitiara the wild free spirited human. Although filled with self-doubt and uncertainty about his place in the world (elf or human), Tanis seldom allows his emotions to show. The only visible sign of his turmoil are in his eyes.
He is trusting of strangers and friends, yet is reserved, even with his closest friends. Sometimes he is afflicted by dark moods and doubts. Although he is a natural leader, he is not sure he wants a leader’s responsibility. Money has little value for him.
He is an excellent fighter, with no fears or weaknesses. Kitiara (Kit) is his only obsession.
Tanis received an elven education and can read and write Qualinesti elven, Neidar dwarven, Plainsman, Kenderspeak, goblinoid and common,
Tanis has rust red hair and beard with hazel eyes.
Flint Fireforge: Neidar Hill dwarf, Flint is a complex personality. He is gruff, cynical, crotchety and distrustful of strangers, magic and wizards (including Raistlin). He is dwarvishly greedy and never forgets an insult. Yet at the same time, he is extremely loyal, a little bashful (especially around women) he is very humorous and capable of deep lasting friendship. He has a running feud with Tasslehoff, but secretly is very fond of the kender. Although he does not show it, he worries about his friends, thinking they are his children needing his care.
He does not like to fight but is very capable when he needs to be.
He is very fond of precious metals and gems and is a talented metal craftsmen and woodcarver. He whittles continually, carving toys to give to children. When not carving he strokes his beard. When traveling he dresses poor and sloppily to discourage bandits, but when in town he dresses to the dandy and is fond of peppermint and the pipe. He is in good health but has a touch of rheumatism. He is allergic to horses, and afraid of boats and water after a near drowning.
Tasslehoff Burfoot: Tass’ most endearing and frustrating characteristic is his insatiable curiosity and fearlessness. These kender traits often get him into trouble. His curiosity frequently drives him to explore what others have in their pockets, pouches and packs, he likes to collect trinkets but often forgets that he “borrowed” a particular item, and he often “finds” things laying around. He is often surprised with what he finds in his pockets. (he would never steal, and resents being called a thief).
He loves maps, collecting and drawing them. He has many maps most are from the pre-cataclysm age. He also loves songs, legends, stories and collects riddles, puzzles and enigmas as avidly as maps. Tass is saddened by death and destruction, and can be in awe of anything truly magnificent. His fearlessness does not keep him from being logical about danger, though his curiosity can sometimes overcome reason.
Caramon Majere: is a giant of a warrior, the twin brother of Raistlin and Half-brother to Kitiara. He could not be more unlike his twin brother. He is big and strong, friendly and compassionate, outgoing and social, but shy around women. He is trustworthy to a fault. He is honest, easy going and open, (except about the test, which he never talks about). He is on the surface what is in his soul. He has no inner doubts, his motto is “There is no problem that cannot be solved by strength” his one obsession is polishing his sword. He is occasional impulsive and does not know his own strength.
He is very protective of his “little” brother and very fond of him, but doesn’t understand him in the slightest. He is often embarrassed by his brother’s rudeness and apologizes for him. Privately he has a deep bond of love with his twin brother.
Caramon is a skilled outdoorsman and fighter, because of his great strength he carries enough weapons, armor and equipment to be a “walking arsenal”.
He is content to follow Tanis and deeply respects Sturm, although he wishes they would loosen up a bit. He is shy around women, but has recently noticed that Tika Waylan has matured from a freckle face little girl into a beautiful women.
Raistlin Majere: is just the opposite of his twin brother Caramon. Where Caramon is the brawn, Raist is the brains, Raist is highly intelligent and clever, and has a talent for magic, his nickname was “the sly one”, for he is avaricious, cynical and secretive. He always expects the worst of others. He has good qualities but hides them well; he hates bullies (being a weakling himself), he supports and sympathizes with the downtrodden, but will never admit his concern. He has a strong since of justice, but little since of mercy. He wears the red robes of Lunitari to show his devotion to the goddess of magic and his order.
During his Wizard’s test he endured terrible trials and ordeals that cursed him and broke his health, his skin turned the color of gold and his hair turned white, during the test he lost some of his soul and has a lingering lung distress and can only speak with a soft voice. However, it was his eyes that suffered the most terrible curse, his pupils were changed into hourglasses, now he sees everything through the effects of time rushing past, everything is dying and withering.
Strum Brightblade: When he was very young his father, Angriff Brightblade had his wife and child safely smuggled out of Solomnia to keep them safe from a peasant rebellion that rose up against the Knights of Solomnia, whom they blamed for not stopping the cataclysm.
Strum grew up in Solace. As a child he showed knightly bearing, and the ideals of chivalry came naturally to him. His mother taught him the knight’s code. Est Sularus oth Mithas – My Honor is My Life, which means the knight must be true to the ideas of chivalry at all costs. Strum lives by that creed, he is a man of noble bearing and great solemnity. His highest ideal is to die a noble death against overwhelming odds in the cause of justice.
He became fast friends with Caramon and the Innfellows. After his mother’s death from the plague he took his family signet ring and returned to Solomnia to seek out his father’s inheritance, unfortunately after settling his estate the only thing left for Strum was his fathers sword and armor. His knightly ideals can sometimes be troublesome, but when persuaded that a greater good or interest is at stake he can be convinced that a “strategic retreat” will further the cause.
His greatest position is his Honor, and his word is his unbreakable bond. He is a remarkable fighter.
Goldmoon of the Que Shu: Chieftain’s daughter and princess of the Que Shu Tribe of Plainsmen. She was raised on the belief that she would someday become the tribal priestess and a goddess of the tribe in the tradition of ancestral worship. Her beliefs were tested when she met Riverwind with whom she fell in love with. He told her about the “OLD” gods. However, her father Arrowthorn, the chief, sent Riverwind on a courting quest to find proof of the old gods before he would let them marry. During that time Arrowthorn became very Ill and Goldmoon had to serve as chief in his stead. Upon Riverwinds return he presented a blue crystal staff which he claimed one of the old gods had given to him, but he was labeled a fraud and heretic and was to be stoned for blasphemy, Goldmoon ran to stand by his side as the village throw stones, then suddenly the staff glowed blue and teleported them away.
Riverwind of the Que Shu: Riverwind was the son of Wanderer a banished man from the Que Shu tribe branded as a heretic for his belief in the old gods. Riverwind spent his early years as a humble shepherd and became an excellent hunter and tracker. He was a Far Hunter for the tribe.
Riverwind is a towering man at 6’7” tall, he is imposing and a man of few words. He is quick to anger and aloof, he is distrustful of strangers until they have proven themselves, but once he calls someone friend he will lay down his life for them. He dislikes crowds, tight spaces and has a strong distrust of magic.
He is fiercely protective of Goldmoon and loves her beyond life itself. Yet he is all too conscious of the social barrier between them and obeys her as chieftains daughter. During his courting quest, he ventured to Xak Tsaroth where he remember little of what happen because of fever, but he was given the blue crystal staff by the statue of Mishakal
