Lord of the Rings 5e: Shadow Over Mirkwood

Using the official Lord of the Rings campaign setting for OGL 5e, released September 2016!
King Bard sits on his throne in Dale at the crossroads between the Dwarves of Erebor, recently reclaimed from Smaug, and the Wood Elves of Mirkwood, who are rejoicing at the defeat of the Necromancer of Dol Guldor. The King has set forth a proclamation that he seeks Heroes willing to tame his young realm and drive out the darkness. But little can he realise that the true threat lies in distant Mordor, a festering hive of horror whose growing strength lies unchecked...

The Lord of the Rings 5e uses unique classes and cultures (which replace the D&D classes and races) that suit the setting. There are no flashy Sorcerers casting Magic Missile and Fireball, no Clerics of Tempest or Druids shifting into Giant Octopus form. It is a tale both grittier and simpler, less fantastic but more heroic. The Heroes in this game are ordinary people with the courage to do extraordinary things.

This game will use Discord (or Teamspeak 3) but no cameras. Players will be given access to the Campaign Setting via Dropbox.

The Cultures are as follows: Humans (Bardings, Beornings, Men of the Lake, Woodland Men), Elves of Mirkwood and Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain. There is also the option of taking Hobbits of the Shire, Men from Bree, the Dunedain, the Riders of Rohan and Men of Gondor, however, they will be foreigners far from home.

The Classes are: Scholar, Slayer, Treasure Hunter, Wanderer, Warden, Warrior. There are no alignments in this system, but all characters are assumed to be Heroes in the traditional sense.

Although the Necromancer has been defeated and Smaug the Magnificent slain, the Shadow Over Mirkwood remains...
