Well met, traveler, and welcome to the Forgotten Realms!
This mini-campaign will be running the Lost Mine of Phandelver-module by Wizards of the Coast, with weekly games on Thursdays until we finish the module. While I have played and DM'd a fair amount of D&D 3.5 and Pathfinder, I'm still new to 5th Edition, so expect me to get the occasional ruling wrong here and there - for the most part, my philosophy on rules is if something comes up in a session, I'll make a ruling on the fly, then we can revisit it after the session to see how it is supposed to work. If you are new to D&D in general or 5th Edition in particular, this game should be right up your alley; if you've played a lot of 5E and/or have already played through this module, you might want to look elsewhere I suppose.
Some technical details about the game:
- We will be using Discord for audio chat. I've had a game in the past where one player couldn't use a microphone and had to type everything in chat, and that slowed the game down enough that I will be requiring players to have microphones available to talk.
- Sessions will run from 6PM to about 10PM Central European Time. As long as that fits your schedule, it doesn't matter to me what time zone you're in.
- If you are going to be unavailable for a session, please let me know as early as possible.
- While there are pre-made characters available, you will also have the choice of making your own character for the game.
- We'll stick to the Player's Handbook for creating characters.
- Note that the "Mature Content"-flag is not enabled. If it wouldn't be okay in a PG-13 rated movie, it's not okay here. Keep it clean, guys. :-)
What I am looking for in players:
- Know that this is a cooperative game. Try not to hog the spotlight all the time, let everyone have their chance to do something awesome, and try to help each other along.
- Be willing to interact with the game. While this is a premade module, I don't want to railroad you along from scene to scene without the PCs input - talk to NPCs, investigate locations, talk to the other PCs about what is going on. The more you give, the more you get out of a RPG.
- And, most importantly: don't be a dick. Nothing breaks a game as fast as a group that doesn't get along.
