The Knight's of the Written Word 2 group is a friendly community created for those that prefer or have a condition, be it a physical, mental, or emotional, that keeps them from either being able to game or struggle to game in voice.
As a community we do have rules that all members must follow, we call them Code of Conduct, and they for the most part mirror Roll20's Code of Conduct. Upon acceptance into the community, please read the rules and understand they are enforced to ensure this is a friendly and safe community for anyone of any age that joins. We have members that are under 18 and over 50 with many that span the years between. As with any community we welcome people that have no experience, with the hobby or with text, to those that started gaming back in the 80's or earlier.
Text games are ran in a few different styles or ways on Roll20:
There are live session games which are played similar to a voice game but instead of speaking, you just type what you want to say or do such as "Torg runs at the orc while screaming and waving his sword" or even longer. How much or what you type varies from gaming group to gaming group.
There are asynchronous text games and there are two forms of them on roll20. People with variable work schedules tend to prefer or play one of these styles.
Play by Post or PbP: These are usually forum based and all the roleplaying is posted in the game's forum while the dice rolls or mechanics, maps, and character sheets are contained inside the actual game. There are games of this type that use Discord for the RPing and Roll20 for the mechanics. These types of games are the slowest usually but sometimes they can be as fast as live session games. These types of games also run nonstop which means they are active 24/7 as you post whenever you get a chance and is appropriate to the scene.
In game text games: These are usually ran very similar to live session or voice games but the pacing mirrors Play by Post games. You log in and enter the game itself, read any new post made, make a post or roll as needed or appropriate, and relax.
We have a text based discord server where some of us hangout and chat.
While we do not run games inside this community, many of the members are players or GMs that post recruitments for games in the group's forum.
The time and frequency is required to be listed but the individual games posted inside the community have their correct times shown and LFG links listed. All games posted must use some aspect of Roll20 and be text based otherwise they will be removed.
Happy gaming and have a good day.
