The Lady of Vilorn has been executed by the “Church of Dawn's Ascendants” and nobody is sure as to why.
There were no indications that she was one of the dreaded vampires, but the will of ‘The Dawn’ shall not be questioned. In addition to the news of her death, rumours about the appearance of an artifact, long believed to be lost, have surfaced.
According to whispers the Dawn found a piece of the Regalia of the Vampire Monarch, a set of powerful artifacts of the dread ruler whom's reign was ended by Saint Vincent 173 years ago.
Far away from the capital of Vilorn a young group of adventurers is on a mission, yet ignorant of the events transpiring and their role in the days to come.
The news and rumours haven't traveled this far yet, neither have the strife and chaos caused by the sudden loss of the country's leader.
But the chaos that will soon spread throughout the land is not the only thing they have to worry about.
As ancient and powerful forces come out of hiding to take up the hunt for the Regalia once more your little party of adventurers will find that the role of one of them might be more important than they could have ever imagined.
Because one of you is a direct descendant of the Monarch, heir to the throne, and some prophecies suggest that their blood hides the secret to finding the Regalia....
Hello and welcome,
Regalia of the Vampire Monarch is a campaign of dark fantasy, following the adventures of Samson and his companions as they deal with the harsh reality of the adventurer’s life.
Add to this the inevitable strife in the now leaderless country and the cursed, royal blood awakening within Samson and things are bound to get way more complicated and dangerous. But these troubles are manifesting themselves slowly and of little concern right now, as the wild and the ruins of old civilisations hold more immediate dangers.
To brave these dangers and ultimately follow the destiny of the heir, whatever that might be, Samson and his two companions require the aid of another.
If that aid is in the form of somebody bolstering their martial strength to contend with violent threats, somebody employing subtlety to their advantage or somebody using their gifts of magic or the power of gods to ward against supernatural threats.
(The party so far is made up of a noble merchant(the heir), an elf and a mage from a foreign land.)
While initially both the cursed blood’s destiny and the political situation in Vilorn are distant worries, at some point they will become all too relevant.
Hopefully when that time comes their time of adventuring has filled their coffers, formed a cohesive unit out of them and prepared them to face threats on their hunt for the Regalia of the Vampire Monarch.
The intent is for this to be a longer running game, played weekly on Saturdays at 8:00PM CET using the not too well known system of Das Schwarze Auge/The Dark Eye.
The game will be in English and all necessary rules will be available as handouts in the campaign(a great deal of the rules hasn't been translated in an official publication).
So much for the meat of the campaign.
