Hell's Rebels: Literally Can't Even Edition

In Hell's Bright Shadow

With the Glorious Reclamation marching forth from the Worldwound, and the threat of civil war fast approaching, the thrice-damned House Thrune is tightening it's diabolic grip upon the citizens of Cheliax. Nowhere is this felt more keenly than in the city of Kintargo, once relatively free of Thrune's influence the city is now in the clutches of their new lord-mayor, a powerful inquisitor named Barzillai Thrune.

As Barzillai's rule becomes more and more oppressive, the mayor swiftly revealing his true colours as a megalomaniacal and arbitrary tyrant, the flames of revolution are stoked within the city's populace. It is time to take a stand and show House Thrune and the sinister church of Asmodeus that you will not submit to their attempts to turn Kintargo into a place of fear and tyranny.

If they seek to turn this place into Hell, then you shall become Hell's Rebels.

Hipsters vs Hell

One of the complaints I've seen levelled against Hell's Rebels, and one that I agree with is that it is a game about colourful hipsters running a revolution out of a coffee shop, and yet it continually tries to reinforce that it's a dark and gritty adventure. A lot of people solve this by making it darker, making sure that the content matches what they're trying to say the books are about but I personally plan to take a different approach. I'm going to go in the other direction and try and focus on the more positive aspects of the books.

As such, this is going to be a game about colourful and unusual characters taking down a dark, tyrannical government. A game where unlikely heroes do battle with the establishment for justice, for their freedom or perhaps just because they really don't like Barzillai Thrune. It's going to be a little tongue in cheek, a little anachronistic and a little less serious but not to the degree that the whole thing becomes a cheap joke.

The game is going to be relatively high power, starting at Level 5 with 25 Point Buy. My intention is to make things a little more exciting from the start and really ramp up the sorts of things you will be facing, including things like giving martial characters some Path of War abilities. No Gestalt just because I don't trust my own balancing capabilities when it comes to that.

Running Schedule

I am hoping to run in the late evening (GMT) on Monday, Thursday, or Sunday. Starting at about 22:00 - 23:00

The date and time listed currently are just a placeholder. However, while I intend this game to be weekly, or at least bi-weekly, due to personal reasons there may be times where the game has to go on hiatus. If such a thing happens I will be sure to give everyone at least 24 hours notice where possible. If an inconsistent schedule is a problem then I recommend not applying for the sake of your sanity.
