Stolen Land

Experienced DM looking for enjoyable group.
"Be it so known that the bearer of this charter has been charged by the Swordlords of Restov, acting upon the greater good and authority vested within them by the office of the Regent of the Dragonscale Throne, has granted the right of exploration and travel within the wilderness region known as the Greenbelt. Exploration should be limited to an area no further than thirty-six miles east andwest and sixty miles south of Oleg’s Trading Post. The carrier of this charter should also strive against banditry and other unlawful behavior to be encountered. The punishment for unrepentant banditry remains, as always, execution by sword or rope. So witnessed on this 24th day of Calistril, under watchful eye of the Lordship of Restov and authority granted by Lord Noleski Surtova, current Regent of the Dragonscale Throne." (Charter given in Stolen Lands, part 1 of Kingmaker AP)

I will with this invite to join in playing the first adventure of the Kingmaker AP. I am running this as a "get to know each other" adventure for a group I hope will get so well along that we would like to play more adventures or campaign(s) together in the future. I am however quite picky about who I would like to play with though (I have met my share of uninspiering players), so players just intending to join for the duration of the adventure (several sessions) are welcome to apply as well. This adventure is a sandbox with several (hopefully) interesting encounters, and little if any railroadlike story-archs. So I believe it as a nice platform for players and characters to interact and learn to know each other in a variety of settings in a fun way. Sessions are set to be weekly, most weeks, and will have to end before 7pm GMT (max 5 hours of play). We are using discord (free and easy voice chat)

One note: I am no PF fan! Any future games with me will quite possibly be in other systems (Should be in the D&D family though, unless the entire group is keen on something different), and the build crunch PF community doesn't interest me much. If you hare a hardcore PF player this might not be the game for you. My only previous experience with PF is running this adventure once before.

About me: I have been playing a lot of different systems. I have DMed D&D on and off the last 20 years (well into the 4 digit number of hours total not counting prep-time) both homebrew and third party. The introduction above are cited from the book; my style as a DM doesn't include much of that kind of flowery language. Rather my descriptions tend to be structured and to the point, and I like portraying the characters I am playing in a non-carricatured but engaged way. While DMing I tend to focus on the big picture; internal consistency and running the game in a smooth way. Details I like to let the players and third party books provide. I am not a native english speaker (Norwegian), but that is mainly recognizable by that it might take some time to get used to the way I talk, in addition to some spelling and grammar issues. A final note: I got work(software developer), wife and an grossly underused steam library. Prep and game take a lot of valuable time. If I don't feel properly prepared I will cancel the session rather than one I know will be sub-par; and if I find the game no longer worth it I will also have to cancel the game. I do however have a strong sense of comittment when starting a thing like this; so I will go to great length to avoid any cancelation from happening.

About you: As mentioned above I am a bit picky. Here are some of the things that I am looking spesificly for: You should be a mature player, but naturaly stay away from adult-rated. You should be an active participant in meta-discussions outside the game, and in the game strive to provide entertainment for everyone rather than just consuming it. You should be open-minded with regard to both system and game content. You find it entertaining to try to maneuver graciously in the intrigues suronding a royal reception, but you also like and are able to make a dungeoncrawl a tactical party rather than a roll to hit chore. You are more attracted to good style characters than evil style characters. It comes natural to you to speak in character when aproperiate. You master the art of keeping a clear distinction between your character and yourself makign a clear distinction between the in game and out of game sphere. You should be an effective and attentive player, not prone to analyzis paralysis or asking about what is going on when your turn come around.

I am aware that the type described here might be quite rare, so if you are recognize yourself in all of these please apply! This might become a special group for you :) If you don't feel like everything above applies to you, you are still welcome to apply, but I would then value if you are then pointing out any deviations in your aplication.

Characters should be made as a team, so any character descriptions are not needed in an application. However getting to know more about how you envison your ideal group of players, and your role in this (both in and outside of game), would help me pick out a combination of players I think will work well together. As mentioned before I am at a busy schedule, so don't really expect any follow-up before after easter week. In the unlikely event that there seem impossible to assemble a suitable party from the applicants, the start date will be postphoned.
