Victorian Age Vampire: The Masquerade [20th]

UPDATE: We are currently a couple sessions into the game, and recently have an opening. We are still early in the chronicle, however, so can bring in new players without trouble. Current clans represented: Brujah,Gangrel, Ventrue and Nosferatu. Priority is given to applicants who are NOT those clans. Bloodlines might be allowed, but remember this is a Camarilla game.

About the game:

  • This is a Vampire the Masquerade 20th Anniversary (oWoD/Cwod, NOT CofD) taking place in Victorian Era London.
  • I am using v20 core, certain things from Lore of the Clans, and the Victorian Age Vampire sourcebook.
  • The game follows a young coterie of Camarilla Kindred that will be serving under the two Sheriffs, settling disputes, investigating crimes, and punishing Masquerade breaches, in-between personal scenes and melodrama.
  • Stories will be a mix of action, investigation, drama, and some politics. There will be plots to follow, as well as time for personal scenes and RP with your fellow player characters.
  • I've done a fair bit of research before running this game, but I am not a historian and there are things I do not know. I've also never been to London outside of reading travel books. In general, I'm aiming more for a "feel" than pinpoint accuracy, so if you're the type to get mad at historical inaccuracies this is not the game for you. There will certainly be aspects of the game that are more "Hollywood."
  • This is a voice game, so you must have a working microphone. No video will be used.
  • We use Skype for voice and roll20 for rolls, and you are expected to check in at least every few days.
  • This is not a PvP game. You are allowed to have in-character disagreements and plots, but this is not a game about diablerizing your fellow players.
  • I don't have a set number of sessions this game will run, as it depends on if we get a good group together and interest stays high.
  • I'm gunning for a semi-cinematic feel, the rule of cool will be utilized at times.
  • Attendance is important.
  • Above all else, I'm looking for good roleplayers who act in character and work well in the group. My goal is that everyone at the table becomes friends eventually. Players who bring a good attitude and atmosphere to the table will be prioritized above experience or game knowledge.
  • Your characters are more than dots on a sheet.
  • No Murderhobo.
  • No siring the Queen.
  • On that note, although there aren't really gun laws in Victorian England, this is not a game about running around the streets of London blowing bad guys away. In other words, you're allowed to have guns if it makes sense for your character, and if you can get away with it, but be smart.

Houserules:

  • Merits and Flaws are Limited to 7.
  • No unbondable merit.
  • I'm encouraging players to avoid putting 5 dots into things, so characters will have room to grow and diversify.
  • Generation is capped at 3 dots, for most neonates are between generation 12-9.
  • 1's don't subtract from damage.
  • Potence: Auto-successes on damage require 1 blood per. EX: 3 blood for 3 damage
  • Fortitude: Can now auto-success like Potence, requiring 1 blood per success: EX 3 blood will auto soak 3 dmg. OR you can add the fortitude dots to your roll, as per normal.
  • Celerity: Each extra action costs 1 blood.
  • Characters can heal with blood in combat, using rules we borrowed from Vampire The Dark Ages 20th/. A character must spend their entire turn healing OR roll stamina+survival(difficulty 8) to heal. Limited by generation blood limits
  • Willpower is not always regained by sleeping, but does come back in between stories. I might give players a willpower "break" if the particular story is going for quite a long time.
  • I'm giving willpower to players who are proactive bringing up and playing their flaws. This helps both you and me, as it can be hard to run a compelling story, keep everyone entrained, AND remember that so-and-so is allergic to cats.
  • Don't forget, you need 1 dot of Academics to be literate.
  • Players can also gain willpower through journaling and letter writing, there will be threads with more info.
  • All house rules are subject to change.
