See that "Voice only"? Yeah it's "Voice and text", but roll20 doesn't have an option for that. Voice would be used for combat to speed it up, text for roleplay.
In 4715 AR Barzillai Thrune was declared mayor of Kintargo, a city on the northern coast of Cheliax, after previous mayor has mysteriously dissapeared. After passing several innocuous laws concerning public health and other mundane issues, Barzillai saw fit to ban the consumption of mint within the city.
Less than one week later, the city was filled with protests against the Thrune rule.
Do you find that surprising? Do you think that an open protest against the Cheliax Empire, known to be heavy-handed with possible traitors on the best of days, might seem like a slight over-reaction to the banning of a minor spice?
You are not alone in asking that question. Abrogail Thrune II, The Dread Empress of Cheliax, wonders about that as well. Her wonder only grows when a discrete inquiry discovers that her personal spy network within the city does not respond in any way. It does not subside when she discovers that auxiliary information channels, various sleeper agents, and other contingencies put in place in case of such a scenario aren't responding either. It seems that something is happening in Kintargo - something much more devious than simple commoners being addicted to mint. Clearly, a very, very discrete investigation by someone not directly affiliated with the Crown is necessary.
You are one such person. For whatever reason, you owe something to the Crown, and yet you aren't known to be a Thrune agent. It could be that you were a political prisoner during the previous emperor's reign who successfully broke out with the help of a partner, only to find out that later that that partner has been a Crown agent all along. Perhaps you owe your life to a traveling soldier who saved you from a monster. Maybe you have been a starving orphan living off the streets, until a passing old man loaned you enough money to pick yourself back up - with an oath to pay him back one day. Regardless of how you are actually connected to the royal spy ministry, you are called upon to visit Kintargo, investigate what is happening, and infiltrate whatever organisation is actually behind the protests. Find the real master mind behind the chaos, bring him to the Crown, and you shall be handsomely rewarded. Fail in your quest, and Empire will deny you were ever ordered to do so, and might hang you as part of a traitorous rebellion. After all...there is only one true grace - victory, and only one true sin - defeat. Nothing else matters.
Time for the game is not yet set, and might change from -2 to +8 hours from the stated one based on what time is availible for other players. Day can change friday-sunday.
While I never liked GMs roflstomping PCs for the lolz and do not anticipate changing my opinion on that subject, I'll attempt to make world react to the actions of the players fairly realistically. You won't have to spend hours trying to anticipate every political move your enemies might make (that's just not fun), but do think about your actions. Don't do stupid stuff or you might get hurt.
