UPDATE 2: We're looking for two more players (again), as one of our new players disappeared in mysterious circumstances. We currently have three active players with 5th level characters (a babrabrian, an eldtrich knight, and a bard) plus me as the DM. I've also posted some more details about the current state of the campaign below (see UPDATE 1)
If you'd like to join our game, post your character description and a few words about yourself in the new recruitment thread in the game forums below.
UPDATE 1: The campaign is already in progress, but one of our long-time players had to drop out, so we decided to recruit someone new. We’ve been playing for about 2 months now, so there have been quite a few developments in the story. The characters reached level 5 and have done some planar traveling, eventually ending up in Sigil, the City of Doors. The quest that they are currently on has led them to a place called the Asylum (a heavily fortified and magically warded citadel run by the mysterious Grey Men). After getting captured and basically being pushed up against the wall, the characters decided to mount one last-ditch effort and free “the Sleeper” a powerful beholder apparently held prisoner deep in the bowels of the Asylum. The Sleeper did indeed help them fend off the overwhelming forces of the Grey Men but also decided that he needs some trusty agents to further his agenda in Sigil. Thus, the characters ended up as slaves of the beholder, now known to them as Xellos the Awakened, left with little choice but to follow his bidding. For now, at least.
There's obviously a lot more to the story and I'll gladly fill you in on all the details when you join. If you think that this adventure is something you might enjoy then leave your application in the recruitment thread (with some info about yourself and the character that you want to play. I’d also appreciate if you somehow connected your backstory to Sigil or the beholder specifically). If you have any questions about the game just send me a pm.
ORIGINAL LISTING: Looking for two more players for a homebrew story-driven adventure loosely set in Forgotten Realms. It will take the characters on a (hopefully) grand tale, allowing them to explore radically different locales and to advance from level 1 to somewhere around level 15. While this might sound pretty generic, I'm keeping it this way not to spoil anything. When running the campaign, I'll be trying to keep it a healthy mix of roleplaying, narrative puzzles, and combat.
If you'd like to join, post an application including a few words about yourself and a brief description of the character you'd like to play.
Short campaign intro:
You received a mysterious, anonymous letter, promising vital information on whatever goal you are currently pursuing and beckoning you to an inn a few days away from Baldur's Gate. Under normal circumstances, this could be easily dismissed as a lowly prank or a flimsy attempt at skullduggery. But there was something about this letter that left you with a nagging feeling. Maybe it was because how eerily specific the message seemed. As days went by, questions about the nature of the letter and its author firmly lodged themselves in your mind, like some sort of mental parasite. How could someone possibly know that much about you? Was it written by a friend or a foe? And most importantly: what if the letter was telling the truth? There was just too much at stake to simply ignore it. Be it out of hope, curiosity, or prudence, you decided to answer this strange summons and to find out whoever is behind this ploy.
