Shadows of Cormyr

The kingdom of Cormyr has fallen. The country was besieged by monstrous creatures from the Shadowfell, spreading the manpower of the Purple Dragons and War Wizards dreadfully thin. Meanwhile, Erzoured Obarskyr, uncle to the rightful queen Raedra, seized the throne. Once Erzoured secured his position, the siege on the capital city of Suzail was lifted, though dark creatures still roam the countryside and forests. His first act as king was to consolidate his power by ensuring that none could challenge him. Any soldiers still loyal to Raedra, as well as heroes of the siege, mercenaries and adventurers who might turn against him, have been seized and thrown in the dungeons until a more permanent fate could be arranged.

Having escaped the dungeons, along with a few dozen other prisoners, and finding themselves in the middle of suddenly hostile territory, the party is currently attempting to find a way out of Suzail in order to regroup and get a better handle on the situation. During the escape, they encountered a mysterious shadowy figure who suggested that he would be willing to help them, though the only thing they can currently be certain of is that he seems to hate the Shadovar.

The party is currently on its way to Waymoot, deep in the Queen's forest: one of the few places that seems to still be resisting the change in leadership.

This is a new campaign set in the Forgotten Realms, though certain lore elements have been changed as it follows on from a previous campaign that sadly failed to reach its conclusion but really helped to establish the world and make it my own. We've been playing for a few weeks and the party is currently level 9, but some players had to drop out due to personal reasons so we're trying to fill the space.

Halfling Zealot Barbarian
Wood Nymph Paladin/Divine Soul Sorcerer

Please post your applications in the Applications thread below and any questions you might have in Q&A. If you already have a character idea, feel free to post some details in the application. If not, that's fine as well, and might even be better as we can work on creating a character who fits nicely with the setting and the current party. The application is more meant for me to get an idea of you as a person so I can decided who might be a good fit for the group. I'll accept any race and class from official material (PHB, SCAG, Volo's, Xanathar's etc) and most Unearthed Arcana, though if you want to use homebrew content place a link in your application so I can judge it for myself. New players are certainly welcome as are grizzled veterans.

We use a decent number of house rules, shown here, with links to paid content removed. People who join the group will get access to all the books and documents we use. Note that even though there are several homebrew items listed there, that doesn't mean they're automatically acceptable. They follow the same rules as other homebrew content.

The game is very heavily focused on rp, so story progression can be slow at times and several sessions can pass between battles, though we do try to keep the story moving even while the party is staying still.

As I'm in the EU timezone, preference will be given to players in similar areas, as it might allow for greater flexibility, but in the end anyone who can make the posted time is welcome.

Sessions generally last between 4 and 6 hours but can run longer.

As a last point, we use Discord to communicate while outside of the game and while it isn't absolutely necessary for everyone to participate, it is certainly preferred, and you should at least be aware of what's going on in Discord as sometimes important things might be discussed.
