Consciousness returns, slowly and painfully, and you open your eyes. You see....the sun. Blue sky. A breeze tickles along your skin. You're alive! How the fuck are you alive? You turn to look either side, your eyes red from the saltwater, and see a golden beach littered with the broken remains of your ship. Bodies, too. Some of them moving, some of them never to move again. Nausea rises in your gut. You feel a sharp pain in your toe and see that a crab has made a hasty attempt to eat you. Somehow, impossibly, you have made it. Welcome to Terra Nova.
You are part of an expedition to explore the new world, an area of the globe obscured by a barrier of great storms. Nobody has ever penetrated the storms and returned alive, but you are desperate or curious enough to brave them anyway. Led by the indolent Envoy Filippo, the Grey Goose is one of the finest ships ever to grace the empire, and it is crewed by as motley a group of people as you could ever hope to find. Soldiers and sailors, biologists and geologists, merchants and preachers, conmen and slaves. It is a floating city, designed to carry everything needed to land on Terra Nova and lay down the roots of a new civilisation - and you are part of it.
The game combines classic RPG adventuring with one of my favourite things, which is building cities and settlements. Though there will be plenty of expeditions away from camp, a big focus in this game will be about dynamically creating a place for you to live and work. You will start with finding food and shelter, and hopefully finish with a flourishing settlement and - who knows - diplomatic relations with the neighbours. You will also already know each other as characters, having spent the best part of
a year together, as well as the pool of NPCs, which I think is always an interesting roleplaying challenge and a fun thing to arrange with other players in advance. Think D&D meets Swiss Family Robinson. Please read the game details in the forum within carefully and only apply using the format provided. Cheers!
