Example of Discord downtime rp:
Nymmarath: So you see, at the moment the Fire Giant threat has waned, however I am afraid that the threat was really never in Sith Morcain, the true threat is in Myrmidia. My drow contacts have informed me that Grazzt himself has been seen in Myrmidia and a Fire Giant Army is forming. If the Netherese have been in contact with these Fire Giants, they could persuade them to join with their forces.
Duggan: The Black Rose network is still operating in all reaches of civilized cormyr, reaching north to Hilsfar and east through all of Sembia. In Hilsfar, the venerable druid has already told you as much as I could, Sembia is very much business as usual. Word is that the Shadowvar are encouraging the people to conduct normal day to day operations. Sembia is still very wealthy and even with the shroud of darkness hanging over the entire country, trade has actually increased. Word from Cormyr is that Erouzed has instituted martial law. A countrywide curfew - No one is allowed out after dark except the knights, war wizards, and agents of Erouzed. We have heard from our spies in Suzail that at night, there are shadowy figures searching for something… Agents from homesteads and farms near the Stormhorns report that the darkness is closing in from the north. Nether is on the move….
Ulath: I do not feel comfortable speaking in front of these newcomers… The attack on the Princess cannot be a coincidence. How do we know that they did not come here to draw the princess out and give these assassins an opportunity to finish the job?
Thorrus: Lord Ulath, I swear on Vergadain we had no idea…. I would never… He stumbles over his words….
Duggan: Ulath, I speak for these newcomers. I have had dealings with them before and I can vouch that they have no love for Erouzed or the Shades of Thultanthar…..
Ganrahast: Lets out a sigh I suppose I can speak for them as well. They were in the employ of the king and I. On an errand to aid the nation against the shades…..
Ulath: Looks suspectingly at the party Very well, if both of you are willing to vouch for them, I have no choice but to place my trust in them as well. Do not make an enemy of Deepingdale, we may seem friendly and accepting, but only to those who are loyal. My contacts are reporting that Sembia is restless. While they are open for business, there is alot of activity near the border with the Dalelands. Rumors that they are preparing to attack Archendale, but no timeline has been discovered…. I have spoken with the council and they have assured me that the Pegasus Archery Company is ready to take on any foe from the south. The other dales have sent reinforcement forces, but you know how the dales are, military is very low on the priority list.
Raedra: If the Sembians were to attack, how long could the Dales hold out?
Ulath: We could pull together an army, but it would take an attack on a Dale to get all of the Dales to rally. The recent “disappearance” of Elminster will embolden the Sembians to attack. His eyebrows waggle up and down at the Princess as the word disappearance is uttered.
Dresk: Excuse my interruption, but I can offer aid Princess, I can have an army of 2000 ground troops here in days, led by an arcanist more powerful than any in the War Wizards. However, it will have to be worth my while, and the Red Wizards.
Raedra: Glares at Dresk The Red Wizards never work for free….what is your price wizard?
Dresk: Cracks a smirk All that we ask is that you sign a contract allowing the Red Wizards land ownership in Suzail and agreeing to host our Enclave when you are returned to power. It is a win-win for you your Highness.
Ganrahast: Raises his voice King Foril forbid it! Raedra, you can’t honestly be considering……..
Raedra: Looks sternly at Ganrahast This is my decision to make. I have to do what is necessary to ensure that Comyr is protected. She looks back at Dresk Ulikir, I accept.
Dresk: Well Princess, I have to ask for one more thing… We have intel that leads us to believe that the Shades are searching for an ancient artifact in Suzail. We believe they are seeking a gemstone, mined 26000 years ago by the ancient Giant Kingdom of Ostoria. It is a minor magical artifact at best… but if they seek it, they must have uncovered some ancient information about it.
Raedra: Looks quizzically at Dresk There are many gemstones in the Vault…..
Dresk: The sly grin that he has shown so often creeps across his face Yes, Suzail is wealthy. Do you know the story of Karsus?
Raedra: Karsus?
Dresk: Our Barakirs have recorded the story of the people of Nether. 2000 years ago, a Netherese man known only as he is written, Lord Shadow, devised a spell that would transport an entire floating city to the plane of shadow. Lord Shadow completed this spell days before the unknowing Netherese people would meet their destruction. As the leader of the Netherese was plunging the rest of the nation into oblivion, Lord Shadow took his city and all of its inhabitants to the plane of shadow. The Netherese were gone from the material plane for so long….. 2000 years or more. 2000 years worth of history that is unknown to them.
What they do not know, is our advantage. The stone they seek is actually encased in the tip of the sceptre of Cormyr.
Raedra: So you are asking me to sign over lands to Thay and hand you the Sceptre of Cormyr? What would you like next? My first born? Perhaps my left leg?
Dresk: Princess, I have no concern for the Sceptre itself. I would merely like to take the stone and keep it safe from the Shades. The Red Wizards are more than capable of returning a stone of equal value and brilliance to the Sceptre, we could even imbue it with even more powers, and only those in this room now would have any knowledge of the switch.
Ganrahast: looks nervously at Raedra Princess, they ask for too much….
Raedra: looks around the table You have given me much to ponder Ulikir, When must you have my answer?
Dresk: Smiles I must return to the Hilsfar enclave on the morrow.
Raedra: Give me this evening to think, and discuss with Ganrahast, Lord Ulath, and Duggan.
Ulath: The Dale people have held off stronger armies than Sembia can bring, when it is time, we will come together and fight. It has always been that way.
Ganrahast: We have heard rumors that the Netherese are seeking an artifact of some power. This artifact would give the wielder the power to control a Lord of the Abyss, a Demon lord and his followers and armies. This would give them the military and magical might to take over all of faerun maybe even all of Toril.
Dresk: The Red Wizards have heard this as well. The Barakirs have studied the ancient magicks of Toril and have uncovered some limited information about the Ancient Narfell Demonbinders. However there is little information other than mention of a leatherbound diary bearing a seal. The seal was from the last ruling family of Narfell, Darakh I believe. The diary was lost, probably to the Raumvarians, the Imaskari, or even the Drow cannot be ruled out.
