Sorry to anyone following. A family emergency has put a pause on D&D for the time being. ( 11 / 18 )
Hello to all potential players! I'm looking to run my first campaign, but my IRL group is small so we're in need of 1-2 players to fill out our ranks. These positions are not for everyone as there won't be a set schedule for game times, but we know they'll be sometime in the evenings (6pm or later EDT) or weekends when everyone can make the time. Our first session has be set up to work with our schedule for this week.
Rise of the Runelords (RotR) is an adventure path. An adventure path is a pre-written story with a series of events to be played out by a set of PCs. What this can lead to is a feeling known as "railroading", wherein the Players feel they have no control over the story because it's already been written. This is not my intent and I aim to make things feel natural, but I want everyone to be on the same page... And yet, not?
Because RotR is an adventure path. The story has been written. This means as a player you could get future knowledge of the campaign. I ask, quite obviously, that no players go looking for outside information on the campaign. There is a handy Player's Guide for RotR that details a few key features to assist in character creation and back story (It's FREE, just add the pdf to your cart and checkout)
No. RotR was built for the Pathfinder system, but it's been converted to 5e because I like the story and prefer 5e over Pathfinder. What this means is that the above mentioned Player's Guide has some misinformation. For example when it mentions the skill Knowledge(Arcana) in the book, that would be converted to simply Arcana on the 5e character sheet. Anything in that players guide should be used as just that. A guide and not a rule.
I'm just a 28 year old dude living on the east coast with my girlfriend and her daughter. I went to college for computer science. I'm a huge fan of Blizzard (OverWatch, HotS, Hearthstone, etc). I'm quirky and bridge weird connections at times that I find interesting that others just don't seem to get, but I hope to be a fun GM for everyone. I've played a few sessions here and there with Pathfinder, but I haven't played any 5e, officially, yet. I've also only GM'd a one-shot campaign, once. What would make me most comfortable as a GM is players that have a general and basic understanding of the rules, but are flexible enough to accept my interpretation on some of the rules. That's the point of 5e, not everything has a strictly defined rule. I'm not the best with voices, but after I get comfortable you might hear one pop out from time to time. I don't expect anyone to be an RP master, and will never force you to speak as your character (but it is fun to try from time to time).
For one reason or another you all find yourself in Sandpoint for the Swallowtail Festival. Celebrating the completion of a new, grand cathedral that houses a place of worship for the 7 most popular gods in Varisia. Anything before that day is up to you to determine.
You might be from the town. It's a smaller town, but still very well known for it's port and theater. Or you might be from somewhere else. If it's elsewhere, feel free to make up your own locations and people. (your favorite word is kitten, ok? just go with it for now, you'll understand if you apply) There should be a map within the Player's Guide I mentioned earlier to assist.
The PCs need not know each other, as the story unfolds you'll be brought together.
We're all in our late 20's and have been friends for years. We live hours apart so this platform works great for us, plus it gives us a place to list and find more players. We're liberal and goofy, but looking for mature players to keep things from derailing too far. We look forward to meeting our applicants!
Well here's what they've already created for the campaign, build yours to fill the gaps...
Mike has chosen a human War Domain Cleric. Heavy armor wearing, shield bearing, warhammer wielding holy warrior for his goddess, the Lady of the Lake. A symbol of hope and the balance of power for the peasantry.
Melissa gains her powers from a dark, unknown force. A drow Warlock on a mission of self discovery. Her history a mystery, her intentions perplexingly pure.
..Really?.. :D
