A start about the setting
Family and nobility play a large role in the campaign, we are going for a balance of adventuring, politics, military, and social events. We start out in a world that is mostly inhabited by humanoids. Racism is not a very strong motivator by the races, however there is some discrimination in the form of the nobility consisting almost completely of bloodlines of magic users. Anybody that does not have magic will have to continuously prove that they are worthy to get any real power.
Some concepts that I want to try
Family
Every player has a main character and a secondary character that is part of his family. Both characters represent their family.
Your second character can be the wife/husband, the brother/sister, son or daughter of the main character.
Both characters are PC's and start at the same level.
For practical purposes every player will only bring one of their characters on adventures with the party. The secondary characters can perform out of band support tasks or form a secondary party and adventure on their own.
Be creative
I care more for the story than the rules. If you want to do something cool I will generally allow it as its great for the story and I reward creative thinking using the stats on your character sheet if you can describe how your character would do it. Same goes for in combat, you may and I encourage it, describe what your character does using the environment or situation. I.E. hacking at your opponents leg and then running away, or while standing at the top of the stairs kicking the front goblin on the stairs to knock all the goblins behind him down...etc (they will do it to you too)
Popcorn initiative
I will be doing something different with initiative called pop corn initiative. It works as follows: At the start (after surprise) everyone rolls and the highest starts. If PCs have the highest that PC goes first OR indicates another PC to go first, the other PCs can say "I would like to go" after the first does his turn, this is done within 5 seconds at the end of his turn, he may use a talk action to share who he thinks should go next during his turn. This works the same for the NPCs if they win initiative. This continues till the NPCs are done at which point the PCs go, the NPCs and PCs can select to give initiative to the other side to take the last position and start the next round of combat. Whoever goes last, PC or NPC starts the next round or chooses who starts. So a PC or NPC can go twice in a row (last and first). This is an experiment to see how this works and to make combat dynamic. It is to make combat tactical and build combinations that normal initiative would be difficult to achieve.
Fun
I am looking for mature players that want to have a fun game. Rule lawyers, power gamers (optimisers are fine) or loner characters please dont join.
If you have questions feel free to contact me. Please provide a short description of your PC that you would like to play and what role as the player you will be taking on (leader, support, mage etc) and a bit about yourself and what you expect from a game.
I am aiming at a stable group of 4 players.
Thanks for reading the basics, contact me if you are interested!
