I've been playing RPGs since 1984 and worked my way up through D&D Basic, D&D 1st Ed, 2nd Ed, 3rd Ed, and 3.5. I wouldn't be adverse to learning 5th ed but you couldn't pay me to touch 4th. If I wanted to play a game with super powers I'd play a super hero game (which I wouldn't be adverse to, either!) My all time favorite D&D setting is Ravenloft but its hard to find someone who can run it without just turning it into a monsterkillplayerenmasse game. My wife & I ran a LARP for more than ten years before retiring and I'm converting it into a roll20/tabletop under the 3.5 rules. My reluctance to convert to 5th ed has nothing to do with NOT wanting to learn it but rather NOT wanting to spend that kind of money again. The Star Wars I enjoyed playing was the 3.5 equivalent d20 version (screw that 4th ed esque version). I'm looking for a semi-serious game (don't want to take it TOO seriously) that is played once a month or so but I don't like anything too silly.
