I love playing and making games.
Currently running weekly a rpg of my own development called "Journey into the Blue Blazes" jonathandaar.com/games/BlueBlazes/ with my friends.
Also working on some video game development.
I grew up playing old school dungeons where your wits were more important than your stats. I still think rolling to search for traps defeats the purpose of there being traps. Traps exist to draw focus to the environment which is ideal for games that are more about exploration than story. If you pay careful attention to your surroundings by asking follow up questions after the description and inspecting the room like a true exploer, you'll circumvent the traps.
I've grown to love the more modern storytelling focused style of gaming where telling a great story is the focus of the game. This is what I prefer to run most of the time. The main charcters are trying to accomplish something and the story is all about their journey.
As a player, I am flexible and I will want to play the kind of role I think Is needed to complement and support the cast of charcters. I enjoy playing exploration and storytelling games.
I'm looking for other warm friendly people playing something different than the standard high fantasy game that starts in ye old tavern.
