I've been playing TTRPGs since I was a teenager and GMing since I was an adult. I also enjoy creating games and consider game development a hobby. I once ran a Meetup group for Star Wars Saga Edition that had over 100 members. I've been playing Pathfinder 1e for about 3 years and recently decided to start GMing that. As a GM the number one thing I try to do is make sure everyone has fun. To make that happen I try to be prepared and flexible. If you have an idea for a character you really want to play, I'll do what I can to help you make it work. You really want to be a dragon? Fine, so long as you start out weak and become more powerful as you level up just like the other players. It may need some balancing so that everyone else at the table can have fun also. I believe a GM is there to help run the world and not to play as an opponent against the other players. I don't win by killing the entire party. I do let them explore dangerous worlds and make choices that may lead to killing the entire party. I win if everyone had fun.
