After some unfortunate experiences playing D&D 3.5E during my undergraduate years (there was a halfling bard, a player breakup, and an intra-party mutiny involved), I swore off the game entirely.
Years later, I came across DM of the Rings, Acquisitions Incorporated, and Critical Role. They rekindled my love for this world of imagination. I joined a couple of games on Roll20 as a player, and then took up a suggestion from a good friend on the other side of the world to run my own campaign.
I am still a very new DM, and I'm sure I make a lot of mistakes, but I'm enjoying the opportunity to build my own world for my players, and with them construct an epic story that will hopefully be told all over that particular plane for generations to come. I am still active as a player in a couple of games, as I love being able to experience one foreign world of magic and danger first-hand while I simultaneously create and coordinate another.
