If you aren't interested in reading about me, just want to know what types of games I am looking for, skip the bulk of my bio, the games I am looking to join a group for are at the end of my bio. I can also GM for a group if there is a module published on Roll20 for which a GM is needed, though I am on a limited income so I might need someone in the group to gift the module to me, depending on my finances at the time, hopefully not. As I don't pay to play games, stated later in my bio, I also would never ask players to pay in a game for which I am GM. I have some reservations about being a DM, lightly detailed later in my bio as well.
I have been playing Tabletop RPGs since I got the D&D Basic box for Christmas 1979. I was fortunate enough to have a pretty stable group in high school and into my late twenties. The group did change over the years; we lost some members and gained some. We played mostly long-term campaigns which spanned up to 5 or so years in length, with long sessions, evening until dawn or after being pretty common. I wasn't part of a group which met regularly from my 30s, when the DM moved a few states away to work for a major Tabletop RPG company for which he had been freelance writing, through my 40s.
In my late 40s I began playing again, in Adventurers' League games in a gaming store. In 2022 I began playing with my 'original' group (for the most part) using Roll20 in tandem with Discord. I guess I define the 'original' group as having 3 or more of the 'original' members and myself and it currently has the original DM and 3 of the original players, including myself. When I joined it in 2022 it had 3 original group members, one member whom I count as an original member, though he didn't join the 'original' group until I was in my 20s, and 2 members who I have never met face to face, but played with our DM previously, before it was easy to play over the internet. The group has picked up a few other friends who circulate in and out from game to game, dependent on their interest in the current system and setting.
I have all of the Edge of the Empire career books, and Force and Destiny career books, I have not been able to find all of the Age of Rebellion career books in stock. Overall, I have a collection which is close enough to complete that I could GM a game, but I prefer being a player and question my abilities as a GM. That bar has been set very high and because of that I don't have a lot of experience as a GM, and the thought of taking on that mantle makes me a little nervous. If you can see GM of # games that is games for which I am working on campaigns but a lot of work 'til they are ready for play and games created to claim free assets.
I am currently playing in an ongoing group which has gone through several campaigns, one of which ran for about 2 years, on (almost) every Wednesday from 20:00 (8:00 P.M.) 'til midnight Eastern US time (GMT-4 or GMT -5 depending on if it is daylight savings time or not).
I'm looking for games to join which don't meet on Wednesdays, from late evening Eastern on though midnight. I prefer groups which are stable, for the most part and like campaigns which last for longer times than the average, which I was surprised to find out how short the time period is, shorter than my memory much of the time. I don't pay to play, other than the purchase of the rule books.
