I've been playing tabletop RPGs for a couple of years now, and I think I've gotten pretty okay at it. Personally, I prefer more immersive, story-based campaigns to all-hacky-slashy-all-the-time stuff. Which is not to say that I hate combat--it's more like I need to know the characters and care about what's at stake for the combat to be interesting, you know? But that's me.
Also, just for the record, I'm highly prone to what TV Tropes used to call "darkness-induced audience apathy." That is, I'm allergic to grimdark. Yeah, I'm that guy who only ever plays good-aligned characters, or at least characters who are willing to join Team Good Guy when it comes down to it. Just FYI. XD
