I've played roleplaying games for over a decade, mainly as a GM/DM in a number of different systems, where I usually create my own extended story arcs focused around the characters in the game.
This creative aspect is one of the qualities I also bring to my characters when I leave the GM chair for a time to roleplay as player character rather than a narrator. Rich backgrounds and character personalities are at the core of any good character.
I enjoy in character roleplaying and development and changes of the personas over a story arc as they interact with the world around them. In addition I like the overall social and creative aspects involved and getting to know the diverse group of people you come across at the gaming table.
As for myself I'm a friendly person with an emphasis on mutual respect around the gaming table and I tend to fit right in with most people.
