I usually DM (hence the screen name). However, I've been looking to scratch the itch of being a player, so I'm looking for a game to join as a player, but I'm willing to DM as well.
Schedule Restrictions
My schedule is pretty open during the summer, except for Wednesdays. I do prefer to play in the evenings (after 7:00 PM Eastern).
Game Preferences
I enjoy the social & combat pillars, but I get more than my fair share of those when I'm DMing. As a player, I want to explore. I'm open to playing just about anything, as long as it isn't a module or hardcover that I've DMed before, but what I'm most interested in is a sense of wonder. I would totally play in a Forgotten Realms campaign, but I'm hoping for something less traditional - an underdark campaign, or a planehopping campaign, or revisiting a setting I haven't seen in a while (Dark Sun, anybody? Planescape?)
As far as system, I'm pretty immersed in 5E right now as a DM, so it's the system I'm most comfortable with. That said, I'm not opposed to other games. I haven't played Pathfinder 2E yet, and I'd love to give that a shot. There are also plenty of games I've enjoyed playing in the past that I wouldn't mind digging out of the closet.
Characters
I tend to favor casters and skill monkeys, and play characters that are actively curious problem-solvers. For D&D 5E, my favorite classes/subclasses include: Fighter (Eldritch Knight), Rogue (Arcane Trickster), Ranger (Gloomstalker), Cleric (Knowledge, Arcana, Nature, Light, Trickery), and Druid (any non-Moon).
Rules
I like DMs that play "by the book" by default, but are willing to go with "Rules as Intended" to discourage weird exploitable loopholes and on-the-spot rulings that encourage creative problem-solving.
