My name is Can. That's pronounced like the 'jun' in 'junction' rather than the 'can' in 'tin can'. Strange I know, but hey, its Turkish. :p
I'm a martial arts guy, in that I enjoy teaching (at my school, Artemis BJJ, where I teach full time) and training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: if you don't know what that is, imagine wrestling, but in pyjamas with more choking and joint locks. I started in November 2006, got my blue belt from Jude Samuel in Feb 2008, my purple belt from Roger Gracie and Kev Capel in Mar 2011 and my brown from Kev in Dec 2017.
I spend lots of time babbling on the internet about BJJ, over on my blog. I've also written for various martial arts mags, especially Jiu Jitsu Style magazine, contributing history, interviews and reviews. The full geektastic details of my training can be found at the following link:

Outside of BJJ, I'm keen on art: a good gallery tends to be the main attraction for me on any holiday, especially if it covers the Northern Renaissance or Mannerism. History is another favourite interest, particularly contemporary history from the 70s and 80s, but also pretty much any other period, especially ancient history, Dark Ages and medieval.
