30+ lifelong fan of speculative fiction, thanks to my parents I was watching Star Trek as a toddler and I've been able to sing-hum the opening song for longer than I can remember. I specifically practiced learning how to raise one eyebrow to look more like a Vulcan...
20+ years PbP and 10+ years TTRPGs. Mostly I've played D&D 3.5 and D&D 5, with occasional dips into other systems like MotW, WoD and Shadowrun.
ETC (UTC-5) - but I work second shift (mid-afternoon to after midnight), so my availability is a little quirky. Late weekend games and PbP games are the best fits for me.
Preferences and play style
Games with visual references for combat, whether with maps, images, or detailed descriptions of who's where and what's going on.
A mix of character-focused roleplaying and game-focused rollplaying. TTRPGs are the fusion of improv and battlegame, with game mechanics giving structure and randomness to our choices and their outcomes. I like having a character concept with some mechanics to back it up, rather than something purely optimized for winning fights or a concept-driven build that dies at the first challenge.
Text games and text-friendly games, as sometimes it's easier to ask a question or keep a record. Ideally, the GM of a voice game will write up a recap of the most important events, with names spelled out, rather than leaving us to what we can remember.
Currently mostly playing D&D5e and MotW. I have books lying around for D&D 3.X, Shadowrun 4e, Scion, Pathfinder 1e or 2e, Burning Wheel, and PDFs somewhere for WoD, Shadowrun 3e or 5e, Fate, or a few PBtA games.
Preference: generally No in campaigns, doable in one shots
Preferences: hard No
Violent ERP.
Games that aren't at least mildly LGBTQ+ friendly - if people like me wouldn't exist in the setting, I'm not interested.
