Character Background:
Collins Rest, located near the border of Lord Collins' land was once a place of worship and rituals for the Shaowdeep tribe. A tribe of old elven heritage. As Lord Collins came into power over Ayani Valley the people flooded his halls with rumors about cults, witchcraft, and sacrifices coming from Story Rock Hill, which was named after the engraved pictures on cave walls. At first, Lord Collins did not give it much thought. The following season however, crops were plagued by bugs. The stories grew and the people became enraged. Lord Collins knew he had to do something. He called on his army to take Story Rock Hill and establish a fort to ensure that the Shaowdeep tribe could no longer do whatever it was they were doing there anymore. He knew this would not save the crops, but it would bolster the people's morale and expand his lands, so he gave the command. Being a place of worship for the Shaowdeep, there was no resistance. The troops made camp and eventually built the fort. Throughout the years Lord Collins' territory grew and his attention reached elsewhere. Time passed and the fort became a town known as Collins' Rest. Collins' Rest was a growing town, it filled with new people every season, some passing through, some looking to settle. Time and time again they found themselves dealing with people poking around in the caves. Mostly kids and historians, but every so often there was rumor of what they referred to as old cult members coming back to perform magic.

Some time later, A woman was accused of witchcraft after she found an injured man near the cave and tried to get him help before it was too late. But the man died. The man's brother claims he found an effigy doll in the pocket of his dead brother. Wrongfully accused and scared, she panicked at the thought of how fast a mob can form. She rushed to her husband and daughter to tell them the news. They quickly rounded up what they could carry and fled to Betsalel forest to take refuge. Batsalel, meaning, "in the shadow." After three days of roaming they met a man with a fair, almost pale complexion and a boy whom they thought was his son. The man was holding a staff with a carved design of twin serpents eating each other at the top and again at the bottom, they couldn't help but take notice of it. After a moment, in the surprise of finding a person in such a remote location, they asked the man for help. He looked at them and their child, he was able to see that they were on the run and felt their need. He created food and water out of what seemed to be mid air for them. Grateful to the man, they did not question his ability and began to tell him their story. At first, he couldn't understand them. So he gathered knowledge to understand their tongue. Afterwards, the couple asked if they could follow him and learn how to survive in the forest. He agreed, so long as they respect his beliefs on maintaining balance to the forest and help safeguard the woods from any who may attempt to invite destruction.

Deeper in the woods they found a meadow with a little stream and began a new life. The pale skinned man would check in on them from time to time, but the boy would sneak off to find the girl every chance he got. The boy would share what he had learned about any manner of things, but mainly they spent their time talking, spying on animals (sometimes people), and playing. The years passed and the children grew, from children to teenagers, teenagers to adults. The bond they had, grew into an intimate relationship. The girl's parents were pleased to hear this but the pale man remained indifferent. Nevertheless, he kept a close eye on the two.

Later they would become parents and have a child of their own. 12 years passed and they faced the coldest winter they had ever experienced. A winter they would never forget. It was the year the new mother's parents died from a flu in their old age. Five years later on a foggy early morning, the cold rain the night before heated up as the hot sun peaked over the horizon. The father heard an animal cry and began to run to its aid. As he ran, he felt a searing pain in his leg and fell to the ground. He looked and saw that a hunter's trap clamped shut on his calf. All his attempts to free his leg failed so he attempted to heal the wound, buying time in the hopes that someone, something, would come along to help him. But the cries of the animal he was rushing to warned others it was not safe. Laying there drained of his ability to heal, he began to bleed out. Night fell, and the mother and son started questioning his whereabouts. The next morning she sent her son to find him. It was midday when he came across a body laying in the blood soaked dirt. Walking closer he recognized his father's staff made for him by his father. He then turned the body over only to fall down in a plethora of emotions seeing the face of his father, lifeless. He then freed his father's body and dragged it back home to inform his mother. The next morning as they were burying him, his pale grandfather walked up with a sad look on his face. He told the girl and her son to come with him as it was not safe in that part of the woods anymore, as the towns were growing and their needs devoured more and more of the forest every year.

For the next two years the boy's mother slowly shut down. Some days it was as if she was not there, staring off into whatever was in front of her at the time. The boy was schooled in the ways his grandfather was taught. The pale man would teach the boy about his father's ancestry and the staff's symbolic nature he now carried as his mother fell deeper into a heartbroken depression. Later that season, his mother never awoke from the previous night's sleep. Not knowing how or what caused it, he knew he couldn't stay in a place that reminded him of the horror he found on both occasions. He spent a few days with his grandfather prepping for whatever might be out there, he was handed a book in elvish and told, "This book will help you in your studies so long as you do not stray from your teachings." He continued, "I am being called and will not be here for some time." He then merged into a grand oak.

Alone, troubled with grief, armed with the loving memories of family and the lifting words of his pale grandfather he set off determined to find a life to live worthy of his family's memory.
staff noted: Made of two types of wood (Yew,death/Ash-life) swirling snakes (like a peppermint stick) eating the tail of each other on either end. Used as a druidic focus as well as a quarter staff.
Crafted: By: Mori ista n'e ( Tel'Quessir Elvish for Darkseal )
Almost two weeks to carve, oil/treat, and polish each snake. The casting and concentration of an ironwood spell wile carving each one. Heavy undisturbed meditation as a form of rest between each step. Then a animate object spell/ritual strong enough to enchant both snakes was used to entwine them together. After entwined, two stones was placed in each of the snake's mouth to balance the woods natural wight and then closed with the tail of the other snake inside. Final step was to use a mold wood spell in order to lock them in place. The stones used is unknown.
