An experienced Rp gamer, I began my exploration of roleplaying games in 1979, and have played in many systems over the years. I am most familiar with D&D 3.5, in both PnP environments, and via Neverwinter Nights, but have played games as diverse as Champions, World of Darkness, Palladium, and Call of Cthulu, as well as many homebrew systems. I'm less familiar with other varieties of D&D, but I'm always open to learn, barring more than small expense, since my gaming finances are extremely limited.
My campaign preferences lean toward classic high fantasy, reasonable flexibility, and mature content, and I steer wide of excessive whimsy and silliness. Both as a player and a gamesmaster, I feel that rules exist for the facilitation of excellent storytelling. As a GM,I have been known to roll dice behind my screen just for sound effects, and often make judgement calls to ignore rolled results when I felt they didn't facilitate both an enjoyable experience for my players, and an overall excellent/interesting story. As a player, I prefer gamemasters who adhere strictly to rules and roles only in matters of fair play.
As a player, my characters lean toward chaotic or neutral good, and I often find development of character interactions to be as, or more, compelling than the pursuit of game mechanics.
