Playing D&D since the 70's, both as a player, and a DM. During graduate school in the late 80's, played a multi-year campaign with some very good friends. For my 50th Birthday, the campaign was rebooted in 3.5! We used GotoMeeting to run it, with the DM using a homegrown system using MS Publisher. Worked well enough, but we've been looking for something better.
We've tried using google hangout (can hold more users). I purchased Battlegrounds for us, but it seems glitch, prone to crashing, which is not what is needed in a game. It also needs separate video conferencing. Transitioned to Roll20; worked well, nice it can accommodate Mac users and includes video conferencing (although still using Hangout for number of player issues).
Started a new campaign summer of 2018 as DM in D&D 5e. Nautical theme; everyone is having a blast!
I live in Portland, OR. Tend to be a Mage when not DMing. Actually enjoy Role Playing, not just Roll Playing! I've been enjoying practicing accents for all the folks in the world my players interact with.
The rest of the group lives in CA, NY, CT, NC, VA.
