About me: I live in England. Hobbies include a wide variety of video games (especially tactical games and RPG's), carpentry (whenever I can find the space!), board games, and D&D. I'm relaxed, friendly and get on easily with people of all sorts. Sometimes quiet when I first meet people, though it doesn't take long to get comfy around likeminded folks.
I'm mostly writing this from the perspective of a prospectve player, since I've kinda been the Forever GM for a while.
Important considerations to me during roleplaying: First and most important, Lines and Veils. Establish them, learn them, respect them. Another thing that I consider important in roleplaying is player/character separation (my characters don't know everything I do and vice versa, prevents metagaming and encourages "Would my character know about this?" type thinking).
Lastly of note is player agency. This doesn't mean that players and their characters have no limits, but characters should be allowed to attempt whatever they want to as long as it is in the spirit of the game as established in session 0. "Yes, you can attempt to seduce the dragon. It's not very likely to succeed, but...". "Yes, you can attempt to steal the King's Crown from his head in the middle of the royal court, but you are aware of the consequences...". This should be balanced by the tone of the game everyone wants to play. The above antics might be fun in some games but in a more serious one, such things would probably irritate other players. Be considerate with your shenanigans and don't ruin the game for others, but otherwise do as you like... and suffer the consequences, heh heh heh. P.S. I'm not actually a killer DM, I hate those, but actions do have their consequences...
Roleplaying exp: have played D&D since 3.5 (I skipped over 4th). I've played and enjoyed various video games which use D&D rules including the famous Baldur's Gate (AD&D 2nd), Planescape: Torment (also AD&D 2nd), Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Star Wars D20), as well as Neverwinter Nights 1 (3.0) and 2 (3.5).
On the tabletop, I've played WH40k Only War, D&D 3.5, D&D 5th, Vampire 5th edition alpha, M20 and V20 on here, and I've also played other videogames based on tabletop systems, including Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines (I really enjoyed this one!), and Shadowrun Returns and it's expansions (also highly enjoyed).
D&D characters I've played include, a Radiant Servant Cleric in 3.5, Theo my Sevenfold Veil Archmage of Light and Sound, and both a Warlock and Paladin in 5th. I've also played a Tech-Priest Enginseer in Only War, a heavy gunner in Broken Chains (a Black Crusade one-shot), Zion the Gangrel in the V5 alpha, and a Virtual Adept in Mage 20. I played a sneaky stealthy character in Blades in the Dark too.
Recently I've developed a bit of a penchant for playing Banu Haqim in V:tM, having played one in both V20 and V5. I guess I just like playing as the sneaky assassin type, hehe. They get sorcery too, another thing I like!
I've ran games of D&D 5e, V:TM 20th Anniversary edition, Wrath and Glory.
What I'm looking for: I've played D&D to death (and ran multiple games), and am looking for something different to play.
World of Darkness (especially 20th Anniversary editions) appeals to me a lot right now. I'd REALLY like to play Wraith: the Oblivion 20th, and Changeling: the Dreaming 20th too, though I'm also interested in Warhammer RPG's like WHFR 4th ed, Dark Heresy, Black Crusade and Wrath and Glory. I'd also like to try Call of Cthulhu since I'm into Lovecraft's stories. I like the fantasy and sci-fi blend of Shadowrun, and I'd like to try Star Wars RPG's too, especially the updated WEG version.
