'Ello! Ah been play'n TTRPGs on and off since I was a wee lad in the late 70s. Ironically, I have mostly DM'd just to have a game but prefer to be a player. PC concept creation is nearly as much fun for me as playing. I make PCs centered on a heavily flavored theme, which often makes them less than optimal, particularly outside their scope. Flaws make for interesting challenges, and as a stoic, I embrace "The Obstacle is the Way" in everything. A dwarf rogue that is as likely to bash a lock as try to pick it? Yep!
