Hello, I’m Zen.
I’ve been running games longer than I haven’t, from the ever popular D&D, to stuff like Shadowrun, Vampire, (along with most world of darkness), Star wars, Call of Cthulhu, 7th Sea just to name a few.
For the last Nine or so years I have run around four-six games a week consistently, and even with lock down I am still running, but I have some more time and I am looking to play some see how others run games.
I’ve seen some good on here and plenty bad, but I am always happy to meet more people that share my love of the hobby. (and maybe… just maybe get a chance to play Shadowrun at least once as a player)
As a GM ironically, I’m bad at describing myself (though I am experienced I dislike being boastful or prideful). But my players speak highly of me and have offered enough praise that I have to accept that they aren’t just being nice. And given my games before lock down had to have waiting lists for players looking to play with me, I take that as a sign that my games are enjoyable.
I am a fair arbitrator; I play by the rules and strive to run a game my players enjoy. I am of the philosophy a game should be fair and balanced and that the rules applied to one are applied to all.
And though I have run so many games I can sometimes miss remember editions I am always open to discussion on rules and rulings, and will always clearly list any and all house rules if any that are agreed upon for all to see.
I expect my players to learn the game and have some agency between the game sessions to know the game and their character, but am always happy to work with my players and support them and understand that with any game it is a learning curve, and I always am looking to improve myself as well.
As a player, I’m an actor I get into the mindset of my character and like to be in character as much as I can, bar any discussion on mechanics and what have you, I tend to enjoy more cooperative characters and can flit between serious and silly as required.
And I enjoy making "art" or at least an attempt at such of my characters.
