While I have and will continue to enjoy any edition of D&D even though I started back near the 1st D&D when races were classes my favorite edition is 4e.
All editions have their flaws that are easily fixed with house rules.
I would describe myself as an RP Lite player. I get into a character, at least with the right group though I don't typically try to do voices and such. I do appreciate those players who can go that extra mile though. I am not the kind of player to sit quietly when an RP session happens. I can find enjoyment in an entire RP sessions or Combat session. However I have played more combat sim type games and enjoy those as well so I am pretty flexible. I also do not do the whole rules lawyer thing. While I might mention I think a rule works a certain way that is more because I am used to inexperienced DM's looking for my input. If a DM makes a call I abide by it. I have no issue with house rules.
I almost exclusively DM for my group. As much as I enjoy DMing though it would be nice to just be a player at least for a bit. Getting to play recharges the DMing battery for me and I am more than happy to rotate now and then.
