Hey there!
I started playing D&D in middle school, when my step-brother at the time gifted me a copy of the Rules Cyclopedia. I spent countless hours reading through, then reading some more, absolutely in awe of the entire concept of creating a fantasy world where my friends could embark on epic adventures.
A couple of months after getting that first copy, I was walking through a gaming store, Sword of the Phoenix, near Atlanta, when I found my first copy of AD&D 2nd edition PHB, DM Guide and Monster Manual. There was so much more depth and so many more opportunities. Then, there were the Forgotten Realms boxed sets with maps and histories and, oh God, it was awesome. After running a campaign for a few years, my players all either moved away or got interested in other things, and my hobby was untouched for well over a decade.
Fast forward to this past Christmas, I was digging through the attic, getting out the decorations, when I found my old 2nd Edition books. I took them out, started flipping through, and my 11 year old daughter became interested, with the same sort of look in her eyes that I had when I got my first copy of the Rules Cyclopedia. So I ran a couple of games for she and my wife in 2nd Edition, then my wife bought me the 5e starter set for Christmas, and I promptly picked up every other available official resource.
Now, I've found Roll20, and hope to be able to find some people to play with online.
