I am brand new to both D&D5e and role-playing games in general. I'm a media studies professor that teaches about stories and storytelling. I've done this in classes about television, film, and video games. One of my students pointed out that storytelling is the cornerstone of RPG games. I started looking into (virtual) tabletop RPGs and realized that she was right.
I realized the deficit in my understanding of storytelling from a (virtual) tabletop RPG perspective.
I want to play in this world and explore the possibilities.
