Hi there! My name is Sean, and I'm a long time role-player, having begun with the 1983 red-box Basic Dungeons & Dragons set and just kept playing ever since. I developed a strong love affair with the World of Darkness games in the '90s at high school and ended up writing for the albino canines for a short while. That kind of blossomed into a phase where I became strongly interested in the indie-RPG scene, and I'm particular fond (still) of the game My Life with Master, My Life with Master and (of course) Fiasco. I'd kind of become that worst sort of snob toward D&D — "Too combat heavy" and "No depth!" being the kind of dumb insults I'd throw its way. (4th edition did not help matters.)
So it's with some irony that I'm back into 5th Edition D&D in a big way. For whatever reason, I'm come full circle and again just enjoy the challenges and fun of big theatrical role-playing, streamlined and well designed combat rules, and just plain fun D&D can provide. I've come to realise that D&D is exactly what you make it, and it can be made into stuff that is fun, light-hearted, and deeply enjoyable; or stuff that it meaningful and heartfelt. (Or some combination thereof.)
