Character Info
I understand that every party needs to be at least partially balanced, so I'll suggest two characters for both a fighter and a sorcerer. Don't worry, I am equally adamant about both these characters and do not prefer one over the other, just giving you some options if you are looking for a specific type of class :)
A lawful bounty hunter with a drive for success.
Name: Oliver Gale
Race: Human (if variant human is allowed, otherwise I'd go Half Elf)
Class/Subclass: Sorcerer / Draconic
Place of Origin: Populated city or town that has a decent level of crime, my character would have been raised as someone who would fight criminals due to his familiarity with them. Not like, the capital of the world, but somewhere with a decent influence and a higher than average crime rate.
Quick Backstory: Oliver was raised on the idea that everyone does something for a reason. "The woman who gave him cookies every Sunday did it for a reason, and the kids at school who made fun of him did it for a reason. Its up to us to decide if they are doing it for the right reason." His father always told him when he grew up while he learned law and order from him, the commander of the towns guard. These lessons rubbed off on Oliver well as he matured, and one fateful day when returning from some errands, he saw a woman being assaulted by someone with a knife. Oliver didn't hesitate and stepped in to save the woman, but his lack of experience in real fighting caused a grave wound, cutting into his right eye deeply. Strangely enough, this wound reacted violently. When his skin was cut open, lightning flew out of his eye and knocked the assailant to the ground. When he reached up to touch his eye, he found sharp scales protruding from the wound.
The scales had always been beneath his skin, but the newly reveled scales proved that Oliver was a decedent of a lightning dragon. This information, although startling at first, revealed that he had a powerful connection to magic in his blood, and as such he started to train his abilities until he was fairly competent in controlling his power. He covered up his exposed scales on his now useless eye with a styled eye patch to hopefully keep his source of power a secret. When he grew of age to move out, he started in the career of detective work and bounty hunting, tackling contracts for nefarious criminals and hunting them down with others. His competency must have caught interest of someone, as he had received summons from the Archmage Rayder for some business. Oliver didn't know what he was getting into, but he sure as hell wasn't going to let this opportunity pass.
Quote from this character: "That's the guy for sure. Well lads, looks like its time for me to earn my paycheck."
What's their personality like?: I imagine Oliver to be a character focused on achieving his goal at any cost. He would be level headed and charismatic, but also persistent and undeterred by threats. Although he would attack from the back lines, he would make his presence known with his investigation and magic skills, showing off a little but staying humble to who he is working with.
An outcast kid with a childish nature and a good shot
Name: Scout (no last name given)
Race: Air Gensai
Class/Subclass: Fighter / Arcane Archer
Place of Origin: Scout grew up deep in the woods, completely isolated from normal life. He has never seen a face other than his mother, his father, and the occasional trader that comes by to buy their game that he hunts. Somewhere deeply isolated from normal society.
Quick Backstory: Scout grew up knowing nothing but the hunt. Ever since he could hold a bow, his father taught him how to shoot straight and kill with respect. Each animal that they successfully hunted lead Scout to quickly learn the intricacies of the hunt. Soon, he went alone and returned with more food than the family could ever possibly need. Eventually, his parents started to send him out on dangerous missions, hunting beasts that were causing problems with other tribes, killing wolves that were harassing livestock, and even competing in glorious hunts to feed the nobles of the relatively nearby ares in their feasts. Again, all that Scout knew was the hunt, and he thrived with it. When communicating with his parents, he was silly and carefree, but the hunts were full focus for him.
One day, soon after his 16th birthday upon returning from a hunt, his parents were simply gone. Their home had been cleared out of almost all its belongings and all that remained on a simple wooden table was a pouch containing gold for his most recent job, a black hexagonal necklace, and a letter, which contained a note that read "Take these, we're sorry. Go live." and an official summons to the Archmage Rayder. With nothing but this note, Scout headed off to the Archmage Rayder to find any possible lead where his family could have gone, and fulfill the wish that they left for him.
What's their personality like?: Scout is the goofball when it comes to social interactions. Still socially ignorant, he will always say what is on his mind and never try to hide something that he feels. He understands important things, but he is still a child, and has a lighthearted approach to life. He won't be the head negotiator, but don't think for a second that he wont contribute to conversations that he has something to say in. Inside of combat, however, he goes completely serious. Rarely uttering anything but a grunt or an important piece of information, Scout sees every combat scenario as the culmination of his entire exsistance, and will thus try his hardest to succeed. (I had a fun role playing scenario in a game that I briefly played this character in where an enemy was scared and shaking (clearly a nice person and not with the evil people) but I decided that Scout wouldn't pick up on that during battle and killed the guy in one shot. Just an idea of what I am trying to say)
Quote from this character: (mid important diplomatic meeting) "Oohhhh, now I understand why that guy said she would be cranky. It is because she is right now"
