An older gamer, getting stuck in my ways. Been playing since I was 12, but lately I can't find people interested in long term games that I crave. Have 0 interest in short term, character limiting organised play games that are prevailant.
I tend to be anti-rules lawyers, and not a number cruncher player; boring. (No, I don't play Magic, and no I'll never play a wargame. PvP is not my thing; I like co-op and less maths, sport thinking.) I rather like improvising and going against the norm. Examples: 1.) I love good (or grey) Imperial characters in Star Wars. 2.) I tend to play a Radical/Progressive thinker in Rogue Trader and Only War. 3.) In D&D I believe that the PC's are the aggressors heaps of time. I mean they just randomly go into places and kill everything for their things. Why? Not every Goblin/Kobold etc are evil. Things are as varied and grey as Humans are good, or evil. XP should not be awarded just on your kill tally with creatures.
Heh, if you're a GM, I reckon what I appreciate is someone who can compensate to change, and theorised thinking and not be stuck on one set story/session outcome, or static behaviour. Sometimes it's fun to not know where you're going, sometimes it isn't.
As to players: No Min-maxing munchkins please. Create characters, not 'toons'.
