My first D&D experience was using the ancient blue books. The oldsters will know. That was back in 1978. I've been DM'ing since 1980 or so, working up through 3.5. I have finally invested in 5.0, just started a campaign using it, and I find it to be quite an improvement! I have a vast trove of campaign material, experience, and knowledge. I love creating worlds and situations and having players figure a way through them. I haven't been able to do much face-to-face gaming, but I'm fine with online gaming. I found this site in February of 2014 and I've run a couple campaigns so far, and tried a couple others. Still learning the finer points of this gaming environment, but I think I have a good handle on it.
With 5th edition, I feel the game is far more manageable, so I will stick to this newest edition. I'm happy to consider bending the rules here and there but we will stick to the core rules for the most part. I'm all about ensuring people enjoy the experience, not about maximizing damage and leveling as quickly as possible.
