I am a roleplay focused player that looks to build interesting narratives with the DM. I leave the rules to the DM although if something goes totally off the wall like inventing a rule on the fly I may have a question or two - but ultimately discussing what happened is for after the game and not during. I work well with players that are exceptionally 1 dimensional like a paladin that will always risk the lives of the party to save something no matter what or the chaotic bard that will willingly give up our stealth into a dragon den. I try to think about it like "So how did your character live this long in this world making these kinds of decisions?" Do they have the lucky feat? Do they have a patron that always intervenes and has their back? There has to be a reason or their character would be dead already. I am not opposed to homebrews, but think a lot more work needs to be done upfront with players to integrate them into the world. I told a fellow player this recently,"I am not looking for a flash mob dance performance- I am looking for a dance production where we practiced and aren't winging it, players play and know what they are good at from a combat and roleplay perspective within reason, and there is a method to the madness somewhere in there." I hope this helps and shows what kind of player I am as well as what environments I best thrive in.
