Over the months since I started more actively looking for games on this website, I've had to come up with quite a few characters. Rather than throw them out once my application is rejected, I've instead stripped them down to more of a concept form that should be adaptable to most campaigns.
If I've applied to your campaign and directed you here, then these are the other types of characters I could write for your game. Please forgive that the formatting is very rough. Some are half finished and some are purely written in bulletin points. Nonetheless, here we go:

Phearos Írakíihn - Drow Rogue (Swashbuckler): raised on the surface paying off his mother's debt by working as a thief. The resentment of surface dwellers have left him always desiring a different life. He has an idealized (and flawed) view of what Drow society is really like, but nonetheless wishes to return to the underdark one day so that he may reclaim the life of nobility he (according to his mother) was entitled. Since information about the underdark is hard to come by, he currently makes due as an adventurer relying on his quick hands, silent steps and deceptive charisma to charm himself in for the kill. He has learned that the best way of surviving on the surface as a Drow is to stay on people's good side and as such understands the importance of allies even if friendship is presently foreign to him.
[more about phearos here]

Tei Xin - Human Variant Monk (Open Hand): when his Master's teachings dictated that he passively sacrificed the village of his parents (which the monastery had until then protected) to a herd of pillaging Goliaths in the name of preserving cosmic balance, Tei Xin went on a journey of spiritual enlightenment to discover how to reconcile his desire to do good [while also staying emotionally deattached from anything], with the philosophies he had been taught in his entire life, but never truly understood. He now travels the world so that he might learn to understand it better than he ever could secluded in the monastery.

Pathan Solanaei - Wood Elf Revised Ranger (Hunter/Gloom Stalker/Horizon Walker): Pathan once spent his life with only his sister and mother. Together, they scoured the wilderness in search for tears into the elemental planes on behalf of the Ashari people. The mother was an experienced druid capable of closing these tears, the sister was her apprentice and Pathan himself was their guide and protector through the wilds. That is, until he and his sister one day found themselves ambushed by a water elemental. Pathan had to leave his sister to die in order to save himself. The shame of being the one responsible for the death of his mother's priced apprentice was too much for Pathan to confront. He fled without a word to his mother. The guilt won't leave him though so he is desperate of a way to redeem himself so that he may once again have the confidence to confront his past. He's a fragile young Elf but nonetheless determined to be better than that.

Calvenan "Cal" Somnigast - human variant Bloodhunter (ghostslayer) OR Paladin (vengeance): Having lived a life of nobility and privilege, Calvenan was unprepared for the day he would lose it all. As he awoke late at night to his fiance, somehow turned an undead ghoul, trying to kill him in their bed, he mustered the mental strength to slay the love of his life. She was only the first of many, as the entire estate of family members and servants had been turned into the undead... all except for Calvenan. Having survived the trauma, the young Lord Somnigast found himself with only one purpose in life: purge the scourge of the undead from existence and discover who's behind the attack of home. Thus, the [bloodhunters or the church of the Raven Queen] found a valuable new disciple willing to sacrifice anything remaining of his former life (status and riches) to avenge what had been lost. Despite it all, he insists on still shining as a human example of goodness and virtue in the eyes of others even if he, beneath it all, knows he's a monster hunting other monsters.
[NOTE: originally written for a Ravenloft campaign and is the most interesting when confronted with his almost crippling fear of the undead]
[NOTE2: with the vast amounts of unearthed arcana material related to the undead, Calvenan could also be a Twilight Druid, Grave Domain Cleric, Raven Queen or Hexblade Warlock]

Vig'oris "Vig" Concorgast - Goliath Barbarian (Berserker): Exiled in his youth, Vig'oris went on to join a group of sell swords. Here he ran into trouble with the noble House Concorgast. After the family mocked him for not having a family name to grant him status, Vig simply presented himself as Vig'oris Concorgast claiming in earnest that such a prestigious name would suit him. The Concorgasts, however, were less delighted by his complimenting action and saw it as an insult. As a result, he had made a powerful enemy and his mercenary group could no longer afford being associated with him. Exiled once again, but not one to let that bring down his spirit, Vig is searching for new opportunities for glory.

Calrician "Drannoress" Alanys - Half-Elf Bard/Fey Warlock: Calrician was always his father's bane. As if being the result of a human affair wasn't bad enough (an utter scandal for the noble ambassador), Calrician also had a habit of spicing up his boring life of privilege with the the thrill of thievery and organized crime. He was careful enough to avoid revealing his true identity, but his father nonetheless discovered his misdeeds before another scandal could surface. He needed to keep Calrician at distance somewhere where he could learn discipline. As such, Calrician was sent to a prestigious bard college where he would work as a library assistant under his strict uncle. On his own time, Calrician had not much to do but read and he longed the excitement he found in his books. One day, he would find more than he bargained for. Reading a book about a brave Elven adventurer, he discovered the spirit hiding inside claiming to be the unnamed protagonist himself. Identifying itself as "Drannoress - Archfey of Myths", the spirit had sensed Calrician's desire for adventure and fame and offered him a deal. If Calrician would continue Drannoress' story under his name, Pheltain would grant him the knowledge and power to achieve the level of greatness that inspires songs enduring the ages. Calrician didn't think twice about accepting the offer and used his newfound powers of trickery to escape the eyes of his uncle. For now, "Drannoress" is searching for one of the cornerstones of any great legend: the "supporting cast".

Phyxerin Hun'viir - Drow Rogue Assassin: "Phyx" was once a promising assassin and though he was by no means a master, he had a knack for killing off his contracts in whatever manner his client saw fit. A mysterious dissappearance? He knew exactly how to get to the hungriest spiders. A cruel display of power on behalf of his client? He knew exactly which poisons could mutilate a corpse in ways a thousand daggers could never do. Whoever found the body would suffer scars of their own which is what his clients often wanted. While his utility was greatly dependent on the effects he were able to instill in his poisons himself, gathering the actual indrigients required outside contacts. [WIP]
SHORT: Fails an assassination. Is as punishment given a surface contract that is doomed to fail. Upon failing however, the contract decides he has had enough of Drow using him as punishment against their failed assassins. As such, he decides on sparing Phyx and instead turn him into a weapon of his own. He has the antidote ready for Phyx (against the poison that would kill him in 10 days if his contract isn't fulfilled)

Paavu zal Morfalhok - Goliath Barbarian (Ancestral Guardian): The Morfalhok tribe was once a force to be reckoned with near these mountains... until the massacre, that is. Now, a young goliath named Paavu is seemingly all that remains. However, within him he carries the very essence of the once proud clan. His ancestral spirits now guide him so that the clan through his actions may endure through ages. They need him to become the stuff of legends, the kind that any bard for east to west will sing about in the generations to come. As much as the spirits guide him, they also put quite a burden on Paavu's own spirit. Will it endure? No one knows. All he knows is that he must put aside his own love for stories and forge his own on behalf of his tribe. He knows that the greatest of stories start when a group of adventurers join forces.
*[He might also need to reclaim sacred relics that have unfortunately been lost but once granted legendary ancestors immense power] *

Palvick Hangard - Human Variant Cleric of Bahamut (Protection Domain): Wandering the mountains near his remote village, Palvick did not expect to find himself upon the crippled silver dragon named Argenglae much less become her student in the teachings of Bahamut. With newfound faith and purpose, Palvick became the sworn protector of his home on behalf of the Platinum Dragon earning him quite a bit of respect from his fellow villagers. Respect, however, proved fleeting as the villagers one morning found most of their livestock slaughtered on the fields. Suspicions quickly turned towards the silver dragon known to live nearby. In secret, the village gathered their funds and hired mercenary monster slayers to deal with the dragon. Palvick managed to gain hint of this, but when he arrived at Argenglae's lair, she had just fallen. She didn't fall without causing her fair share of trouble, however, and Palvick was able to drive off the remaining dragon slayers before they could make away with any loot. He burned her body and forged the bone and scale into an amulet in which he kept some of her ashes Unable to serve a village that didn't trust him, Palvick left in search for other places to do good. Eventually, he hopes to be able to resurrect Argenglae through his own holy connection with Bahamut

"Silence"/Sai - Wood Elf shadow monk (anti mage build): Raised by an order called The Arcanimorti, "Silence" was taught the dangers of magic in the wrong hands and how to deal with them. The Order itself is a secret, largely independent faction of [knowledge domain church TBD] and uses many fronts to recruit prospects for the Order. Churches, orphanages and thieves' guilds are all rumored to have been used as these fronts. A heavy victim of the Arcanimorti's indoctrination, Silence's monotonous personality keeps many people uneasy about him. Still, exposure to people outside the Order has started to reveal just the hint of cracks in his indoctrination. [NOTE: this character is loyal to and works for his order. He will join the Party only if they are currently dealing with defeating a magical enemy or procurring magical artefacts.]

"Zul'Phuriei - Earth Genasi :Storm Barbarian OR Fire Giant Sorcerer: Born as a human child of the Ashari people, "Zul" attended a joint gathering between the Earth and Fire tribes. In the midst of festivities something went wrong and Zul, in an attempt to save others, found him caught between portal pulling him towards the elemental Plane of Fire and Earth. As they pulled on Zul, the portals also pulled themselves closer to each other until suddenly, they converged.with Zul still trapped between them. The Ashari had no choice but to try and close the portals even if it meant sacrificing Zul, but something went wrong. Instead of closing the portals, it appeared as if the converged portals were sealed withing Zul changing his flesh into ashen stone trying to contain molten magma. The Ashari druids agreed that Zul had been infused with a chaotic "storm" of the two planes vying for control over his body and, in time, the storm would "erupt" into a destruction that would annihilate his tribe. As such, Zul agreed to exile himself in search of a cure trying his best not to reveal to the wrong people that he is an explosion waiting to happen.

Nobuon Zonathei - High Elf (aereni) Lore Wizard:
Nobuon was born into prominence. His father, despite being one few elves known locally, achieved near noble status in his home town for using his sorcerous powers to solve a dragon problem. None of his children, however, inherited this draconic gift. Nobuon, nonetheless, was very intrigued by the arcane and, through his father's fame and connections, managed to get accepted into the best arcane university of the land. An elf among humans, he realized he was in no rush and took ample time studying as many areas of magic as he could even extending beyond them. It was all connected, he thought. It just needed a central theory to be united. A Unified Theory of Everything.
Still, even with his fathers resources, Nobuon knew he couldn't keep taking courses indefinitely and would eventually need to graduate and personally acquire funds for his research. Shortly before that could happen though, Nobuon learned that his father has disappeared, as had the funding he provided for Nobuon's education. No longer able to pay for his education, Nobuon is instead working off his student debt as an assistant professor. It took him a while, but he has gotten to the point where he can finally go on field research missions as an adventurer.

"Crystal" - (reflavored) Warforged Wild Magic Barbarian
"Crystal" was born under a different name, but grew up eager to lift herself out of poverty. And she did! Together with her partner, she got the papers to a mine thought to be depleted, but which the two young prospectors had a hunch contained more. As it turned out, the former coal mine contained gemstones perfectly suited conponents for spell foci and other arcane purposes. They were rich and eager to see just how far the ore extended. Sadly, the magic of the gemstones had magical properties that proved to be quite volatile. Aggressive mining personally spearheaded by the two prospectors working overtime somehow triggered a magical explosion deep within the mine. It buried the two partners and crushed them both. Somehow, "Crystal" woke up exposed to the still free flowing magic of the mine while immobilized by the stone. She could've been down there for days, maybe months, but she didn't need to eat. She awoke one day as if she had phased through the stone debris. She was a changed woman. her skin had turned rock hard with a tint of blueish marble. Her hair was gone, completely replaced by crystalline formations and the had random protrusions of the crystals growing all over her body.
She was unrecognizable. There'd be no way for her to return to her old life. A life filled with loss. As such, she decided to start a new life but this one wouldn't be much easier. She finds herself constantly hunted by the equivalent of poachers trying to harvest the gem stones from her body. She has found herself able to fight off these poachers by tapping in to the rage over the life she lost, but whenever she does, it seems to awake the magic of the mine once more. She has taken the name Crystal. Afterall, she sees herself as the inevitable outcome of what happens when life keeps applying pressure.

[Alternative versions of this character include ones where she's not a barbarian, but instead forced to study arcane wizardry (particularly either graviturgy or transmutation) to keep her new body stable and not ripping itself apart}

Patrin Daardendrian - Dragonborn Oath of Conquest Paladin:
Patrin grew up in a realm completely ruled by tyrannical chromatic kind. Dragons ruled over dragonborn through might and fear, and the dragonborn themselves were given a caste based on their scales. Brownish, greyish and pale scales were the lowest of the low. Slaves and thralls to their draconian masters. White-scales served the brute force the armies. Black-scales were scouts, spies, infiltrators and assassins. Green-scales had some semblance of power as emissaries, diplomats and even politicians. The blue-scales were permitted to study draconic magic often under tutelage of real dragons. Finally, the red-scales were the military leaders and generals. Patrin was "fortunate" enough to be born with red scales. Should he survive his training, he would one day command and army of dragonborn to serve his draconic overlords. [WIP]
