I've been playing tabletops off and on for years now. I started back with 3E but really got into the swing of things with 3.5. I've since DM'd and/or played Pathfinder, Dresden Files RPG, FATE Core, NWoD Hunter, Legend of the 5 Rings and a few others.
I strongly favor role playing to war gaming, though both have their merits. I tend to dislike playing with power gamers and people who enjoy trying to find ways to break games.
I also refuse to play in torture porn games. If you're unfamiliar with what that is, it's gratuitous detail on meaningless things to describe disturbingly sick fantasies, even when not dealing strictly with torture. I think that "I shoot him with an arrow" generally suffices instead of detailing the exact location the arrow pierces, how it pierces, what it does to his anatomy, and where his anatomy ends up (usually on another PC, oddly enough). This, of course, only ever seems to get worse if there's an interrogation (/sigh).
